Two SAT problems

<p>Section 3 Question 29</p>

<p>[Despite] its cultural important, the Daily Gazette [lost] 70 percent of its subscribers since 1920 and, by 1955, [was losing] [as much as] $200,000 a year. [No Error]</p>

<p>I originally thought E, the correct answer is B. After having typed it, I think I realize it now (it should be has lost in the imperfect past tense, right?)</p>

<p>Section 9 Question 6</p>

<p>Oren missed the play’s overarching significance, focusing instead on details so minor that they would best be described as ----.</p>

B indelible
C moribund
D picayune
E impervious</p>

<p>The correct answer is E. I chose D. Can anyone explain why D is wrong?</p>

<p>Section 3 Question 29:
has lost is correct.</p>

<p>question 6:</p>

<p>It’s talking about how he was overlooking the play as a whole, and only focusing on the small details. Impervious implies that they are things that most people don’t notice.</p>

<p>Picayune just means small, so while it may work with the last part, it doesn’t fit with the entire sentence.</p>
