"Two" singular or plural?

If you have a number greater than one, like “two” or “three”, as a subject of the sentence, is it plural or singular?

Depends.

“Two is a number.”

“The two over there are very passionate.”

When two is used to represent the number (“Two is the whole number following one.”), it is singular. When it is used to describe two things (“Those two are trouble.”), it is plural.

“no two of the specimens”

that requires plural verbs?
