Two things to do from day 1

From the time you find out you are pregnant, two things are critical:

Read to your child/sing to your child

Start saving for college

The first will help your child develop into a college level student.

The second will allow you to pay for college.

Pass it on. Its not rocket science, folks. Just requires time and effort.

Turn off the TV

Get off the internet until he/she toddles off to bed.

Maybe. We would have been better off putting our monthly automatic payments under our mattress than into mutual funds, however.

I would say eat a lot of nuts. Fat is good for developing a child’s brain.

The prepaid tuition program is the best thing we ever did! Over 10 years we made payments for our two sons so that they each get 126 hours at a 4 year tx university + 8 semesters of required fees. Tuition has doubled in that time/ we’re getting 50% off tuition and required fees. YAHOO!!!

What if your sons don’t want to go to that school or any school in Tx? Could it turn out to be one of the worst things you’ve done?

tell them you love them

hug them

tell them how proud you are of them

spend time with them

teach them how to delay gratification

teach them about integrity

teach them about the value of hard work

teach them that the world doesn’t owe them anything

teach them that they owe the world something

teach them to be kind to others

and tell them you love them again.

They’ll have a much better chance of getting into the college of their choice.

How did we get to a place where paying for college now literally requires a lifetime investment?

Which school is going to be first to require grandparents’ financial information, so they can evaluate your potential inheritances before awarding aid?

teach them to respect others

teach them to say I am sorry and to mean it

teach them to say thank you

They’ll have a much better chance of getting into the college of their choice. :)

Well, I’d say, change them when they are wet, feed them when they are hungry, and nap when they are napping. You can do the dishes later. @day one! Take a shower, too, if you can. It’ll help with the sleepiness. Take a walk, if you can. Keep them away from sick family members. Wash your hands. ;)

Day one. I think we spent a few weeks on the wake all night sleep all day thing til we got it a little bit more together.

Oh yeah, and even though you think you are too exhausted to enjoy the 3 am feeding? Go for it, anyway. The next time you are up listening for them at 3 am? They won’t be nearly as happy to see you.

OMG!!! Ain’t that the truth!!! :-/
