Two transcripts...Which one will be more important/will colleges use both?

Hey All!!

Basically here it is…I spent Freshman/Sophomore year at a US school abroad (Argentina), an my transcript says GPA 3.51. I have since moved back to the US, I’m American, and am finishing up my junior year with about a 3.8-4.0 GPA. My counselor is going to upload BOTH of the transcripts separately. Will colleges average out the GPAs? Will they place more focus on the Junior year one? Will they (Ivy schools-YALE-) toss out my app when they see a 3.51 GPA? FYI I test at ~32-33 ACT.

So if anyone could give any input on the situation below, it would be much appreciated!

THANKS FROM A NERVOUS JUNIOR!

First of all, they will use the entire GPA from freshmen year to senior year. No, colleges look for CUM GPA so keep working hard. Probably they will reject you, no one is safe to be accepted to an IVY. Try to increase your ACT to a 34+. also I hope you have strong EC’s. Best of luck.

Junior year will carry the most weight when they look at your transcript

@Jr12317‌ Yeah, I have very strong EC and paid work experience (Im a ski instructor), Studied Arabic abroad, Speak Eng/Spa/Fre fluently, Puerto Rican - NHRP award and Legacy at Yale. Comp. Sci award at old school & LOTS of medical internships with Puerto Rican Doctors in Puerto Rico, also some pretty intensive cardiology research this summer in NYC…some community service…etc. I think my app will be riding on the EC mainly tho…

Just work hard with your GPA at least to increase it a little bit more. You need ACT score 34+. You have strong EC’s.

When the Yale acceptance thread comes out, check out the statistics, especially for those who are URM. I know someone who had a perfect Junior and Senior year and a few Bs before that. He had some interesting hobbies but no hooks, was not an URM. His ACT/SAT was perfect or close to it, he got into Yale.

Yale requires that you send them all ACTs so try not to do worse if you retake
