Type or Write?

<p>Do colleges have a preference whether you handwrite your info into the application or type it on a PDF and then print it out?</p>

<p>If you handwrite, it’s all in a neat book, but it “may not be neat.”</p>

<p>If you type, it’s neat, but it’s a stash of papers.</p>

<p>i had the same question in mind. i asked a knowledgeable teacher and he told me the best bet is to type it because admissions officers might not like to read handwritten stuff. at the very least, there’s no bias if you type it.</p>

<p>You could always bind the typed papers together at Office Depot with one of their machines.</p>

What if I don’t own a typewriter?
Answer: Nobody owns a typewriter anymore. But there is a way to submit a paper application that looks like it was typed without requiring a typewriter:

1. On a separate clean piece of paper, type(on the computer) and then print out just your kid’s responses to the questions.
2. Cut out those answers from the clean sheet of paper and tape them(using “invisible tape”) to the application in the correct spaces.
3. Bring the completed application to a photocopying place as photocopy the taped pages - so that it looks as thought you typed the answers neatly right onto the application.
4. Submit the photocopied clean version.

<p>TooRich, that still seems very messy though. I’m starting to like the typing though. Just waiting to see if Common App opens up its PDF for typing as it has in the supplementary forms. Thanks for the responses!</p>
