Which firms do the typical UCLA biz/econ students do their interns during the Junior/Senior year?

And I mean TYPICAL. I’m not looking for the exceptionally outstanding students. Nor I’m looking for the exceptionally low-achieved ones. Just the typical average not-too-good not-too-bad students with GPA between 3.2 and 3.6.

What kind of firms recruit those students as intern?

since i know your goal is a top consulting firm… well, top consulting firms arent going to recruit typical students. a 3.6 GPA might barely make the cut, but anything below that probably wont. the exceptionally outstanding bizecon kids will be the ones snagging the top consulting internships. the top consulting firms (mckinsey, BCG, bain, booz allen, mercer) rely on brain power as partially measured by the GPA. thus, even mediocre GPAs at elite colleges (ivies) might keep you from landing such an internship.

that said, 3.2 to 3.6 would be, like you said, an average student. however, the average student pursues a wide spectrum of internships… there’s nothing really “typical.” you’ll get mid-tier services (consulting, accounting, ibanks, etc.) as well as those in industry (fortune 500s). my GUESS is that students within this GPA range who want a consulting internship may apply for upper-mid-tier firms like deloitte, accenture, AT kearney, mercer HR, LEK, parthenon group, plus other mid-tier consulting firms.
