Typo in the personal statement a deal breaker?

<p>Sent an app in and caught it too late. The mistake was I used “pursuit” as a verb, when I meant to type “pursue”. The weird thing is my 2 editors didn’t catch it either. </p>

<p>I know I can’t do anything about it now. But is this a deal killer? Should I cross this school off my list and move on?</p>

<p>I don’t think it matters too much. For future reference, I suggest Adobe Reader’s (free) Read out Loud Feature after converting to a pdf. The program reads your essay in a boring, monotonic voice, but nonetheless you should be able to catch typos and awkward wordings when you actually hear your essay being read to you.</p>

<p>Aren’t you doing this anyway? Until you hear back from them, you have no part in the process. Your list is pretty much irrelevant once you’ve applied. You’ll have a new list once all the responses are in.</p>
