After submitting my EA application that two(!) of my essays contained rather obvious typos: one subject-verb person disagreement (along the lines of “He are”) and one case where an obviously wrong word form was used. Since I was already a borderline candidate - my grades are not perfect - hoe detrimental is this? Is that common?

lol hoe detrimental
Philosopher-King, I don’t think your typos will make or break your application even if your grades are borderline. I imagine that the admissions officers will focus holistically on your essay instead of persecuting a grammar error. I know you are stressed, I am stressed too!!! But really, I don’t think your “he are” will be too detrimental! and by looking through other posters on cc essay typos seem to be quite common!

It happens…
I was looking back through my common app after I submitted it and realized that on one of my activity descriptions it started off with something like, “sThe Math Club…” I.WAS.HORRIFIED. Then I realized it’s not that big of a deal, they’ll know what I’m saying…

My worry would be that it shows “carelessness.”

^That is the typical worry for typos, yes. Although my thought is that you would have to have many more typos for them to think you’re really being careless.

I found one on my Common App as well. It won’t make or break the application by any means, so there’s no need to worry about it.
