U. Mass Amherst? What are the chances?

Well, I’m an African American male attending a public Philadelphia high school. I have a 3.3 GPA and my SAT score was a 1560, including writing (and that score SHALL go up). My grades aren’t so bad, A’s, B’s, C’s. I’ve been an active member in my school’s band for going on 4 years, playing percussion and cello, and I was selected to perform in the All City concert band/orchestra last school year playing percussion. I’ve been in American Red Cross at my school for going on 4 years, and I recently joined the chinese knot club last school year. I’m taking 2 AP’s next year, AP Calc and AP Art History. In 10th grade, I attended the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference, for all that’s worth. I stumbled across this school a while ago and it seems like a great school for me.

While I’m waiting, I might as well say this too. The other schools I’m applying to are
Temple U.
Arcadia U.
University of Delaware
Penn State (University Park Campus)
and I’m considering Virginia Commonwealth.
And I have LOADS of volunteer work hours from this program my church’s youth group attends, called Walking The Walk. I would also help out my middle school teacher in 9th and 10th grade, and marching band hours, and yeah…
