<p>I was thinking about starting up a LGBT rights group at U of M. Our primary goal would be to gather enough signatures to put an initiative on the ballot either in 2011 (more likely 2012) to legalize civil unions in the state. I know a few people attending U of M who would likely join but we need at least 100-150 volunteers seeing as how we need over 300,000 signatures which would be roughly 2,000 signatures that each volunteer would be responsible for getting. I myself am not gay and you would not have to be gay to join the group nor would you have to support same-sex marriage though you would need to support civil unions (obviously).
