U.S. Seeking 58 Permanent Bases in Iraq

[McClatchy Washington Bureau | 06/09/2008 | U.S. seeking 58 bases in Iraq, Shiite lawmakers say](http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/40372.html)

That was what the War (which began with the December 1998 bombing) was about from Day One. (and Wolfowitz, who never lies, said so).

What do you want to bet that none of the forum’s Bush cheerleaders have even bothered to read the article in the link? Why is it that the American public knows nothing of this proposal by the US government?

The proposed status of forces agreement to allow continuing military forces in Iraq was discussed weeks ago.
The US has bases all over the world in countries far more stable than Iraq. Most Iraqis would claim they want us to leave–until we actually threaten to do it.

Those would be the same Iraqis who welcomed us as liberators and threw flowers in the path of our soldiers as they arrived in Baghdad, right, Barrons?

Iraqis are very confusing people. They often say one thing and then contradict it in the next sentence.

Nice piece on “Bush Lies” report just released by the Dems. Maybe not so much.

Blackwater is moving into U.S. Intelligence. How do people like that?

Hardly surprising - from the very beginning administration officials side-stepped the question about having permanent bases or a permanent military presence in Iraq.
