UAA Recruiting Question- Please help :)

Hi everyone!
So I have been in touch with a UAA coach this past year and have “verbally committed.” The coach knows that I have already submitted my ED application and asked that I do ASAP so the admissions can read it earlier, apart from the non athlete applicants. For some background, I already took an “official” visit and got a positive early read. The coach has seen me play in person and we have developed a good relationship.

However, my ranking had dropped a bit, a little below the average player there. I am scared that the coach will revoke his/her support from my application even though the coach “confirmed” that he/she will support my ED application, as I have heard several horror stories from recruited athletes.

If anyone has any insight on the recruiting process specific to UAA, I would greatly appreciate if you could let me know if this will significantly lower my chances for ED (possibility of getting deffered??) Since I’ve already submitted everything and all my teacher recs are done, it is possible that the coach can revoke his/her support? I know nothings ever 100%, but before my ranking dropped I was pretty confident. :frowning:

So you’re talking about UChi, WashU, etc. - strong academic D3s. Coach offered support, you went ED and since then, your ranking has dropped and you’re concerned that he’ll pull his support.

First off, don’t worry about it. Whether he does or doesn’t it’s out of your hands now. He said he would support you and you took him at his word and submitted your ED ap.

If you have developed a good relationship with the coach over the past year, he knows your capabilities and character. Senior slumps happen and coaches know that.

You keep bumping this thread, is there some specific information you are seeking about how the coach perceives your drop in ranking? Maybe you should call him

There is no specific recruiting process for UAA, everything is school specific and, within each school, sport/coach specific.

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.

Word of advice - generally the more information you are willing to disclose, the better the chances you might get helpful advice on these threads. I think that is what varska was hinting at.

The school is WashU, if that helps

By next week at this time you’ll have a definitive answer
