UAB Academic scholarship deadline

I decided after going between several colleges that I want to go to UAB. But, I’ve just now got in an application. With my ACT I’m eligible for full tuition but it says in order to get an academic scholarship you have to be admitted by Dec 1 of your senior year…which I wasn’t. I assumed all college deadlines are firm but I contacted someone at UAB and they suggested I file an appeal letter to try to get a scholarship.
So I’m in the process of doing this but I’ve read on here that UAB doesn’t usually stick to the Dec 1 deadline? So if it’s likely that they would still give me one, would going through with an appeal mess that up or something? I’m more than likely still going to do the appeal but is it likely that they will give me the scholarship at all?

I contacted UAB a day or two ago with that question. OOS students can still apply and get their scholarships.

Thank you for contacting us. It is not too late to apply for scholarships. Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for academic (ACT & GPA-based) scholarships if they are admitted to UAB by December 1 of their senior year in high school (May 1 for out-of-state students). The final test scores that will be considered for scholarship purposes are the December 2016 ACT and SAT test scores. (We do not consider the writing portion of either exam.)

for OOS, the deadline is May 1st
