I go to LSU, but I’m considering transferring to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I just have to get a little more information on a couple of things. I hate Greek life here, but I was wondering what it’s like at UAB? Which is the best sorority?

Also, how is the Political Science/Government program at UAB?

Greek life has a very different flavor at UAB as compared to LSU. Don’t worry about the “best” sorority. If you are curious to see if you will fit in, go through recruitment.

UAB’s Greek Life will likely be more low-key that it is at LSU. However, it is popular amongst traditional age girls. I’m not sure that there is a “best sorority” there like there can be at other big-Greek schools.

You’d have to go thru Rush to determine which one(s) are more to your liking.

if you’re PS/gov’t, why are you considering UAB? I’m not saying the programs are bad, but UAB’s strengths are in Science/Health-related majors and business. If you’re pre-med, pre-dental, nursing, etc, it’s excellent.

I know it’s weird to want to switch to a primarily medical focused school, but LSU is like that too so it’s really not that different. Also, I read that the arts and humanities at UAB are getting better.

I didn’t even think about rush for choosing a sorority…LSU sororities are big and obnoxious so I avoid them at all costs. I think Greek life at a small school would be a lot more fun.
