Has anyone attempted to rely on Uber for New Year’s Eve? I’ll be in the suburbs but I’m still worried about the surge pricing nightmares that I remember hearing about in past years. And, in using UberX, are there any worries about getting a driver who has done some celebrating him or herself?
I’d just watch the price. I remember last year a guy was charged $700 to go 11 miles. He failed to check the cheaper options and ended up with a limo or towncar or something big, and even the driver said it was ridiculous but Uber won’t budge.
Most of the taxis here have specials or are free. Even AAA is offering a free tow and ride, but I’m sure you’d wait a long time.
