And most will be going down this year.

yeah, wasn’t san diego around 65 percent this year?

I’m shocked about UCSD. I thought they were the third competitive UC school to get into.

i agree, i go to ucsd and that kinda ruins it a bit for me
haha

Hehe, sorry guys, it’s the harsh truth. However, I posted this to give hope to current and future transfer applicants that it’s very likely that you will be admitted into a great UC campus.

Its the major that matters.

Ouch worse every year.

yup. If I was deadset on getting into UCLA, I’d have declared Hebrew or something as my major, instead of Comm. =(

variable303: Again, I doubt all of a sudden every Comm S. Major admitted this year had a 4.0, best of luck! :)

Thanks! I’ll need it.

According to the website, they want you have done at least 2 of the 7 listed courses. Thing is, I’m really concerned about this:

"Communication Studies*

To be considered for admission, applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA at the time of application.

Seven lower division courses total; at least two should be completed before applying:

* one course in introduction to mass and interpersonal communication studies
- one course in principles of public speaking
- one course in introduction to linguistics
- one statistics course
- three additional courses selected from the following four areas:
o introductory psychology
o introduction to American government/politics
o introductory sociology
o one course in microeconomics, macroeconomics, or introduction to political economy

*Demand for this major significantly exceeds space available. "

I chose to pursue communications just a few months ago (didn’t know what I wanted to do for years). Of those classes listed, the only one I know that counts is a mass communications class I took in my CC. Other ones that are ‘sorta’ similar that I have taken are: political science, sociology 185 (social problems), and Psych 165 (human sexuality). So yeah, I’m not nearly as prepared other people. Even my GPA is below the average of last year’s admits (3.76).

Anyways, good luck to you as well! crosses fingers

I’m currently finishing pre-reqs I hope the timing of it doesn’t mess me up. Thank you very much. I know all the Comm. St. majors on here are really skeptical about their chances, hopefully it will all work out.
