UC Application Questions Post Here

i thaught u send transcript after ur fall grades are posted. and these grades will have a part in their decision.

so then i can fix it even though i will get my UCid 4 weeks from now. so 3 weeks after the filing period is over im allowed to fix it?

after falll grades, some time in winter break or after, you will be required to update your application with all you fall semester grades, for the most part winter will not count seeing how it will not be completed in time of the update. during this update you list all the classes taken in fall, what you got, and if it differed from your previous predictions when you first submitted your application during octobor, you list what is different.

IF, by some off chance, you dropped a critical class, that you said you planned to take, but eventually never do, your admission is probably void. dropping a class in fall and trying to take it in spring is also a risk, but it does not disqualify you.

How is the word count now?

1st: 200; 2nd: 189; 3rd: 594

i dont know why they would change it to such abitrary numbers, but when i did it, it was 200/200/600

lol

(56789)

What are my chances… I want to transfer from UCI to UCLA… all of this information is before this quarter ends…

Major: Biology
UCI GPA: 3.38
Units: 82 Completed

and um… what else do you guys need to know? lol how does it look? thanks

Urgent question:

let’s say I started some EC two months ago. I plan on doing it all of next year. How many weeks should I put that as?

8 weeks (10 char)

EC hold little weight in my opinion, for transfer they look at how complete you did the required lower classes and IGETC. i had no EC and got into all my schools

your chances from transfering to UCI to UCLA are not great, junior college transfers are offered spots first, and upon seeing how well you did your lower division courses its all up in the air againts your favor. another important thing is how impacted your major is.

just curious, is tap program available to uc students? if it is will a uc students have same chances as a ccc student?

TAP is just for community college students… as far as I know.

agree to pellman

QUESTION:

what if I were to put down my major in the applicantion, take a couple pre-reqs in other departments and then decide, I want to actually major in that? Can I change it after submission? If so, would it have any bearing on my admission?-- as in admissions officers being turned off by undecided/uncertainty about my major, etc…

I’m applying as Comm to UCLA and Berkeley, but for one Berkeley’s Comm is totally different, and I’d much rather do English, but I am finishing my pre-reqs for Comm this quarter and it isn’t all that bad. Then again Comm has a much harsher acceptance rate, esp for UCLA— and I’m also considering Global Studies, which along with English have much more favorable rates…(not that I’d apply solely according to rates, but I must say that it does make me feel heavy when I think about that 13% Comm rate).

for berkeley at least, when you apply you apply with your major already chosen, but when you accepted, you are taken in by your respective colleges. IE Hass, College of letters and science, college of engineering.

mass com is under letters and science, which is the largest college. this does not mean however, you can choose whatever in letters in sciences with the highest acceptance rates, and then later change to psycology or english. this would be balantantly dishonest and they adcoms will see that. taking related majors such as mass com and english seems to be ok. both majors are impacted but i have seen no problems from people who declare that major now that they have been accepted in.

bottomline is dont try to cheat the system. but if you are unsure about english or mass com, you CAN do both, but i would suggest against it

what do you mean both?
Double majoring?

More details: I am not trying to cheat the system, trust me. In fact, I’m trying to make sure I make the right choice so it doesn’t look like I’m even vaguely cheating the system.
For Berkeley: I have no interest in Mass Comm, but this is all they offer and I’m only applying because, well it’s Berkeley. I’d much rather learn English or Philosophy or the like from such a strong liberal artsy college.

For UCLA: I intend on Comm, and this is my goal-- but I am wary of the admissions rate for it. I’m just asking… if I were to take a couple English classes in the following 2 quarters and complete the pre-reqs for it, would I be able to switch my choice of major after filing my application, but before decisions? Let’s just say I have a change of heart after taking some classes and just want to pursue English even at UCLA-- would it be a go?

if thats the case, take english or philosphy, philosophy might be the easiest to get into out of the three.

Do I need to fill in the SATs/HS ECs portion of the application?

no, hs does not count, SATs for UC junior applicants do not count.

Can we create different UC Pathways accounts as a means to write customized essays per college?
