Special Circumstance: Father passed away in 10th grade.

Note: Berkeley also loves my school, I think like 15% of last year’s class got in.

I really want to go…What are my chances?

Being instate you might have a chance however Berkeley is extremely competitive and you shouldn’t get your hopes up. I would say High match/low reach for you. Do you have any alumni? that could tip the balance or recs/essay? Good luck! If you don’t get in I know California has many great schools and going to somewhere such as Irvine or Davis would be great too.

as for my letters of rec, I’m getting a GREAT one from my english teacher, and I know a big donor who could probably write me one as well.

I think you stand a reasonably good chance, and do emphasize on your tennis and UN activities. If you could up your SAT scores by 100 points, that will be excellent!
