@ElevatedThinking I think it’s fair to say that most are not correct but there are definitely instances where some hacks are. The portal trick seemed to work last year for everyone who posted about it so, unless they changed their system, I would bet it’ll still work this year.
@screenname34 I would love to believe you. Can you link us to some of the posts in last year’s Berkeley thread that confirms this hack? I personally couldn’t find any.
Sure, it seems last year a majority of people were able to view the hack on the 24th. How do you link a post?

heres a page where some people read what their portal showed… if you follow the poster who had a rejection in their portal it seems they ended up not being admitted and attended a different school. This holds for everyone I’ve looked at so far. I think this hack might be for real!
@screenname34 Did you paste the wrong link? I don’t see any comments talking about portals. But I’ll go with what you’re saying.
In that case, you’re saying that the portal was able to be viewed on the 24th of April? If so, then this “hack” should be much more accurate the closer it is to the actual admission release date. And another point is that MAP@UC Berkeley is being used for the first time ever this year, so that might change things up.
Your thoughts? By the way, I love superstitious stuff like this. It feels exciting haha
@ElevatedThinking lol its a joke… the “hack” everyone’s joking about is being able to see your admission decision on the official day and time decisions are released (last year 4/24 was a friday). the point is there is no trick or “hack” to being able to find out if you’re in before then.
no that was the correct link. The poster saw the below passage on their portal and it turned out they were eventually rejected-
"Thank you for applying to UC Berkeley. After careful consideration of your credentials, I am sorry to inform you that UC Berkeley is unable to offer you admission for Fall 2015.
Transfer decisions were very difficult this year, as competition for fall admission was exceptionally rigorous. Berkeley was able to admit less than a quarter of the 96,100 applicants, including 17,200 transfers, all of whom were very well-qualified. I regret that many talented and promising transfer students will not be included in our entering class because of this high level of selectivity. I have prepared the answers to some frequently asked questions which provide additional information about the selection process and, I hope, address your concerns.
Given your academic qualifications, I know that you will receive other attractive admission offers. I wish you every success in achieving your educational goals."
From what I can tell everyone who got that message was eventually rejected, and everyone who had the “accepted” message was subsequently accepted.
@ElevatedThinking
I think he’s just trying to show you that the “hack” is being patient (as hard as it may be) and waiting until the day berkeley actually releases to see if you get in or not instead of desperately trying to find a hack
from what @goldencub and I can surmise, based on previous year trends, we may see these indicating changes on our portal as early as the 29th. As to whether or not switching to MAP will affect the hack I’m not sure. Probably depends on if the hack was a product of the procedure and timing counselors followed to put information into the system or the system itself.
Did I just get tr0lled?
You guys are too cruel, playing with my heart like that. This is worse than when my ex dumped me.
Brb, crying.
@screenname34 Well played sir, well played.
:))
For some reason you guys using the word “hack” had me and my girlfriend laughing in fits.
I logged into that link with my info from a summer visitation and there is nothing indicating I was accepted. It actually says I am “not an active student” so yeah…
Well, there’s a silver lining to all this: I now have approximately 15 prospective transfer friends that are staunch believers in this hack, and are in a mass hysteria about how they’ve all been rejected. I’ll enjoy this a little longer before I tell them that I’ve been misinformed.
Good showing, lads.
This was great! Thank you ladies and gents, I look forward to this hack.
Huh it lets me log in
I’m able to log in too, but I can’t do anything else. I really don’t think it means anything, plus i’m nearly 90% positive Berkeley is not going to accept me so I doubt this is telling of anything.
Mine says “log in successful” too…
To be honest though, I don’t think there’s any point in trying this early. I don’t think the entire thing is fully set up that’s why it’s glitchy and all that. We’ve waited for months. I don’t think another 3 weeks will kill us. We can do this!
Yeah I think it’s safe to assume it means nothing
