UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

No, it’s tomorrow. Welp, fingers crossed.

@SDSU84 @JacobfromCA

I tried to log in with my MAP@Berkeley but it says unrecognized login.

Cal Central is the website provided on the admitted students page where admitted students get new student information. So I naturally believe that admitted students will be able to log in. And in Cal Central there’s an option “Log in with MAP@Berkeley account.”

And this is the admitted students page. http://admissions.berkeley.edu/admitted. They have events already arranged for transfer students even decisions are not out yet…

@ibtes96 Yeah it says unrecognized login for me as well. Looks like we’ll just have to keep waiting.

What email is everyone talking about? :-SS

Mine says unrecognized login too.

Yeah, I’m not going to try any of this stuff until the 29th. I don’t see the point in not waiting. Only 3 weeks left.

@briank82 I am fully aware of this. I have upper division units and it was my understanding that @goldencub was telling someone that the unit cap was 80 instead of 90, and I just wanted to make sure that it was clarified! I wouldn’t want anyone getting worried over a non-issue!

I didn’t realize that the comment was made on the fourth, but I was replying to the following statement:

“Apparently having any upper-div units with >80 units total will put one over the unit maximum…”

@ibtes96 mine says invalid credentials when I try to log in. I wonder if there’s a difference in that and “unrecognized login”?

Update: nvm, I wasn’t clicking “sign in with MAP account”. I too get the unrecognized log-in message.

I heard that if you try to log into MAP@Berkeley on April 29 at around 5:00pm you can find out if you were admitted or denied. Crazy stuff.

Edit: In all seriousness, I think Berkeley is too stringent to allow any tricks to fall through the cracks. They probably activate admitted students’ accounts when decisions are released. I don’t remember any tricks indicating one’s Berkeley admission status from the threads over the past few years. So let’s just try to focus on our studies and wait three weeks instead of searching for tricks that may mean something or nothing. :-bd

Besides, even if there were a trick that meant something, we wouldn’t know it meant anything until actual decisions are released. So either way we’re waiting until decision day. There’s no need to add one more thing to worry about!

@Cheolf I heard about that trick too. I looked through last years thread and, from what I could tell, everyone who logged in and saw an admission offer ended up being admitted

@screenname34 Whoa. Did the portal hack also tell the people who were not accepted that they were not accepted?

@goldencub Hard to say for sure since I think people are less likely to post on here if they were rejected, but of those who posted a rejection all were shown a rejection in the portal hack

Portal hack is legit everyone.

So from what I can tell if you see a rejection you’ll probably get rejected but if you see an acceptance there’s still a chance you could be rejected (since those people might not have followed up in last years thread)

@screenname34 Oh, so what you’re saying is if we see an admission offer on April 29th via the portal hack, we should go directly to the school ASAP to confirm?

@goldencub what is the portal hack you guys are talking about?

@ibtes96 On April 29th at around 5 PM, you will be able to log into your portal and see your admission decision. It’s the only hack that definitely seems to work.

I’m not sure it’s a good idea to call the school, if they find out about the hack they might fix it :-SS

they are probably following this thread and are already working on fixing the hack :-w

Before you panic: all of these so-called “hacks” have been proven to be bullshit. I remember back in 2014, there was a super popular hack to find out UCSD acceptances 2 weeks before the release date. Turned out to be: bullshit! Similar “portal” hack for Cal last year: bullshit #2! And so on.
