@psyphil12 Given your ECs, you have a solid shot. A phil major got into UCLA last year with a 3.14, so anything’s possible.
UC are trying to make the rate of freshman and transfer enrollment as 2 : 1 under the CA law.
But last year, only 2600 transfer students SIR-ed Berkeley in comparison to 5900 freshmen. And many other UCs could not meet that freshman-transfer enrollment rate. That is the reason of why they extended the deadline of the transfer application. But since we have less freshman admits and more transfer applicants, this year should be as competitive as last year.
@goldencub Ok now that gives me a little shine of hope O:-) Thank you!
I’ve found very detail description of UC transfer selection process.

@Hiroaki0422 Very nice!
Case Study one certainly struggled quite a bit with intermediate algebra @-)
@pleaseberkeley It sounds like you tell him what your grade is. If it’s a B, you say “I have a B in Math 47: Mathematics for Liberal Arts.” If you have a C, you say “I have a C in Math 47: Mathematics for Liberal Arts.”
If you’re asking if you can lie and get away with it, it’s possible … but could just as easily come back to bite you and somehow get a possible offer of admission rescinded.
@briank82 it gives the oprion of posting a pic file, do you think they are going to ask for a pic for proof if i dont include one?
Oh. In that case, email your teacher and screen shot their response. Your teacher is probably used to giving out midterm grades for a variety of reasons and I’m sure the school you’re applying do understands students won’t get some formally presented midterm grade on school letterhead or something.
Just email your teacher and say it’s urgent, type his response, and include a screenshot of his response. You should be fine.
Totally unrelated to this thread, but did anyone else just receive an invitation to apply for UCLA’s Regents Scholarship?
Yes
4.0 PoliSci applicant, I did not
Yeah, I did. On a related note, that email makes me feel much more confident about my chances for Regents at Cal. Still unlikely, but I’ll hope for the best.
@goldencub When does Berkeley send out invitations for Regents? How does their process work?
@SDSU84 They don’t. If we are accepted, then they just notify us after the 29th (apparently - it’s either at acceptance or a couple of weeks after, probably the latter). There’s no application for Berkeley. They just choose applicants.
how come UCLA makes us submit another application for regents but Berkeley and UCI do not?
I got one too. I wonder how they choose?? I doubt it’s random???
I think that UCLA is the only UC that requires transfers to submit a separate application for Regents. The worst part is that, unlike last year, this year they sent out the invitations before the actual admission decisions came out which means we actually have to do the essay and get a letter of rec. without knowing if we at least got accepted or not.
For those who are curious, here is UCLA Regents prompt:
What do you hope to accomplish after you complete your academic career and how do you think your goals will impact society? (300 word maximum)
FWIW, I know that the Regents scholarship for Cal looks for similar criteria - namely, academic/career goals, motivation to help others / one’s community, etc. - so it’s a plus if you talked about the aforementioned in your personal statement(s).
But don’t expect getting Regents from Cal.
