oh my god…
I got in a fight with my husband this morning over being stressed for admission decisions to be released.
Him: “Why don’t you just stop worrying, and constantly checking, and just check once on the 30th. It’s that easy.”
Me: “YOU DONT GET IT”
and then I set him on fire.
^^ and then ate him?
What’s he checking for? There’s literally nothing to check.
I keep checking my backup schools, like UCSC, because they roll theirs out for a few weeks apparently. But UCB … ain’t releasing that ish until the 30th. Not worth the energy to even check … or worry.
I got one yesterday. 3.91 mechanical engineering
major: philosophy
GPA: 3.93 (one B, otherwise As)
major GPA: 4.0
extracurriculars: group instructor for symbolic logic class at my CC, TA for my department chair, merit scholarship for philosophical research paper, philosophy club participation, math/english tutoring for my nephew with learning disabilities.
personal statements: essentially centered around my love for philosophy and interest in studying it at the graduate level, as well as being a first-generation college student and aspiring professor, etc. i really enjoyed writing both prompts so i hope this is evident in my essays.
i wasn’t admitted to UCSB so i’m terrified. i’ll have my math and science IGETC requirements done this spring.
good luck everyone!
@bayareaengineer what did you get?
Is UCB going to release all admissions decisions on one day? Or will it be a similar process to that of UCSC, where decisions were released through out the month?
berkeley releases all of them at the same time
@boxandwhiskers LOL My husband is also going crazy waiting, but I’m just as bad hacking his portals to see if he got in
I’m going to insert this the next couple times I post so you regulars know. My account got skrewy and I had to make a new one… (previously sugarbabies3)
ONLY TWO WEEKS X_X
Luckily for me I’ll be baking at 1:00 or 2:00am on Friday the 29th. Hopefully I can sleep until just before decisions that day! I’ll probably set my alarm to 4:30pm so I can partake in some neuroticism.
Lol I just psyched myself out because I was looking at threads like the UC Berkeley 2015 Transfer thread on this board from last year… looking at everyone who got in and when they revealed their stats. And for my major (Poli-sci) everyone who got in and was on the board at least had a 4.0 or a 3.9. Couldn’t find one person who was otherwise. Ah, and I have a 3.8!!! Sooo useless to even think of at this point, but I guess we’re all doing the small things right now while waiting to practically torture ourselves
Also: is anyone else also familiarizing themselves with the wording of the rejection and congratulation message? Just so it’s less of a surprise when they see it (mostly the former if that’s the case)? Just me? Hahah, okay. B-)
Also, one thing I wanted to bring up that I saw in the message board was that even for transfers they have some Spring 2017 admits rather than all for Fall 2016. I thought the Fall/Spring admittance distinction was only for freshman. What do you guys think about that?
@tooweirdyo Obviously they do have spring transfers. There is a welcome page for spring transfer admits. See http://admissions.berkeley.edu/admitted
I think being admitted as a Spring transfer would be a hidden blessing - most of us will be pretty exhausted after this semester. That 6 month break seems wonderful.
My past four semesters: 3 units, 3 units, 7 units, 18 units.
I’m just getting warmed up! \m/
@Cheolf Really? Did you take three years in CC, or do you have a lot of AP units?
This whole process is so chill
@goldencub I agree that spring admission would be a hidden blessing. Definitely would be a nice break. Recharge the batteries, lol.
Anyway, I have been stalking this thread (and others) for a few months now. I just want to say I appreciate everyone’s comments. I am an Econ major with a 3.83 GPA from San Diego. 2 weeks left
@Sumner You think so? I’m exhausted, personally. The week of the 25th will be extremely stressful for me, at least.
Looking forward to the Summer (no pun intended)!
