@goodmarks I think everyone gets the invitation for it?
How much of an advantage do you guys think TAP students had? Would we be at a handicap in comparison to them? Guess what I’m tryna ask is if listing TAP in your app is that potent?
I have been following this thread for a while.

Political Economy major
GPA:3.79
Major GPA:3.90
Will Berkeley release the admission notices at 5 pm on April 29th?
Is that the right time or is everyone guessing or know from previous applicants?
@JuanTakei Part of the help from TAP is that you have someone who goes over your app, can quickly answer questions, knows the ins and outs of the process, etc.
It isn’t that powerful, I don’t think, especially if you’re in a really impacted and competitive major, but there are perks to it. It won’t make your application great, but it can definitely help a great application.
Since you and Hirokai0422http are engineering applicants, I’d like to know if your pre-requisite classes are all articulated? All mine are except Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. I am taking these classes at my community college because the closest CC that offers them is over an hour drive and I don’t have a car.
Does that mean I won’t be considered? So far I have a 4.0 and expect to get an A in these classes. I have an 800 on SAT math and verbal (if they even care). I won’t apply until next fall. Thanks for any insight. Berkeley computer engineering has been my dream.
@JuanTakei @briank82 TAP students have an 85% admit rate into Berkeley. My friend last year was a TAP student with a 3.5 and got into Haas. I have a 3.14 GPA this year as a polysci major, though I have shown upward trend and have killer EC’s, we’ll see how much TAP can help me. I know they asked us to send in a copy of our application so they can put a “stamp” on it for admissions.
Hi TheLlamaRider, So glad to hear you like engineering at Berkeley. I’m planning on applying next fall - computer engineering. My community college doesn’t have an articulation agreement for the linear algebra and differential equations class, though they have applied and not heard back. I am taking the classes this semester since the closest community college is over an hour away and I don’t have a car (no bus goes there either). Did you have any articulation problems and still get in (or know anyone who did)?
Can anyone evaluate my chances to any schools: UCSD, UCD, UCB, UCLA
I am in huge need of entering Californian schools as my dad, as an immigrant, is moving to Cali soon and I will have to reunion with my dad, as I am now studying in Vermont (East Coast). I mentioned that in my essay.
My GPA is 3.83 with all prerequisites met except Org Chem, with fabulous ECs and a few awards. I am also in Honors College of my school: Neuroscience is my major. Can anyone evaluate me??? DO YOU THINK I WILL GET INTO ANY OF THEM? ANY IS ENOUGH I AM DESPERATE OF GOING BACK TO CALI. I really have to go to cali…
@diuneilomo Not sure of your chances, but are you and your family capable of paying the $55,000+ per year for tuition? If you can, more power to you, but it’s a lot of money.
@hdoan24 I’m aware of the their “success rate,” but I would venture that rate is much smaller for highly impacted majors like EECS and Business Administration. My TAP advisor actually encouraged me NOT to apply for Haas, since it was so highly competitive and so few of her students made it in.
That’s great your friend with a 3.5 made it in. It could have been because of TAP, or partly because of TAP, or because they saw something they liked using their holistic approach. It’s hard to say, but there are always exceptions to the rule.
I’m glad I was part of TAP, but I don’t put too much weight on it.
i’m very anxious right now seeing all those gpa anyone waiting to transfer with chemistry major?
My major requires 1 course that is offered by my college, but im taking that class right now in my last semester. Does that affect my admission? 3.95 GPA, geography major.
Question: When people referencing paying $55k for tuition, they are actually referencing complete estimated fees, correct? As in tuition, living, misc, etc?
I ask because, while I am not out-of-state, there is the possibility that I will make to much money, which is only 10k, to qualify for my tuition waiver in the year 2017-2018. I want to be sure that the tuition fee that the UCs list on their sites $13,000 for in-state and $3X,000 for out of state is truly the additional amount I would have to pay.
@bkarbcs It will not affect your admission.
@dkarbcs No, you’re fine. If you don’t pass it (or any other class), however, any possible admission will be rescinded.
@TheVisionary Tuition and fees for OOS is $38,108 (compared to $13,400 for in-state). Estimated average costs for OOS are $54,208-$58,308, depending on if you live on or off campus. So yes, that $55k is for estimated costs to including living expenses, meals, transportation, etc.

Not sure of what you’re asking besides the tuition, but hopefully that helps.
@briank82 Right. The $55,000 is the average cost of attendance rather than simply tuition. Just making sure that I’ve seen the correct numbers regarding tuition fees alone.
out of state tuition for berkeley is $38k per year
can transfer students live off campus right away?
