same. It will be up in a few days i think.
People living far away from Berkeley, are you guys planning to go to Calso?
@BigPanda Yeah, it seems that’s when the semester itself begins. The week after classes commence. I’m not sure how that works; perhaps a current student can enlighten us.
Yup, I live 7 hours away but I’ll be making the drive to attend CalSO.
@BigPanda I want to attend CalSO, but I cannot because I will be doing an internship in DC this summer. I hope the emails I receive will help me choose my proper classes. I have a friend who transferred a couple years before me say that she wouldn’t really recommend paying for CalSO because you could find the information elsewhere.
@arashid142 haven’t been able to get through. I got an email saying that tomorrow it will be down.
anyone know anything about ucb EOP?
@BigPanda Ya i’m going. I will probably fly in the night before and get a hotel with some friends and make it a fun trip
@SDGoldenBear Wait, considering the fact that all you need to declare an Econ major is 100A or 101A and Stats 134, basically if I can snag a 100/101, I’m in? Because as a Stats major, I will probably take 134 first semester anyway.
silly question… are we able to register for classes as of now?
Also i am so lost on how to use calnet
can anyone tell me where i can pay for my SIR fee as well as CALSO?
Im so lost too. Can someone tell me where is the calnet login page is?
@accessforbidden There’s a makeup CalSO on 8/19 for those who cannot attend the ones in June!
Just be aware that the longer you wait to register for classes, the more likely it become that you are stuck with the leftovers (little to no freedom in course days/times/instructors).
When can we register for classes?
@melon12312 @screenname34 @emily2636 @ccAndronicus Did you guys SIR? Not sure if I should SIR since this problem exist.
@vflores96 come to CAL! If you desire to get into a great grad school CAL is the best option!
@hitherto Omg, thank you for this!
@BigPanda I SIR’d, but it will take the system between 24 hours - a few days for it to update to allow you to create a CalNet ID. Also, in order to register for classes I believe you need to be given permission via your college advisor. They will give you a code. Since you haven’t met with one yet – I’m assuming – you won’t be able to register for classes.
@tracy1017 Hey! Congrats on your acceptance! I’m a prospective student to MCB at Cal (applying this fall). I’d like to know what emphasis did you apply under in MCB and how were your EC? Also, any other advice you have for me to successfully transfer to UC Berkeley will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks!
Does anyone know if we have to wait until CalSO to register for classes?
@BigPanda I believe you have to agree to the terms in the conditions of acceptance before you SIR and I’m not 100% comfortable agreeing to them given our problem. I don’t think there’s any strong advantage to SIRing early so I’m going to straighten things out before I do
Accepted
Molecular and Cell Biology
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology emphasis
Cumulative gpa: 3.71 (Its low I know, but I went to a CC years ago and did terribly after the passing of my dad and losing our home so this affected my gpa since all the coursework was transferable)
Major GPA: 3.85
Major Pre-reqs Completed: Yes
IGETC: Complete by Spring
Course Completion: I have done all L&S graduating requirements aside from the two upper division elective courses and my major upper div courses. I will only need to take 9 classes to graduate (7 upper div courses + 2 upper div elec)
Applied: UCB, UCSD, UCLA, UCD, UCSC
Accepted: All, but SC since admission decision is not out yet
Bio: TAP Student, Starting Point Mentorship, Bridges to Baccalaureate NIH Summer Research Fellow (super stoked about having a paid internship doing Biochemistry/Protein research at CAL this summer) counts as MCB99 and is 3 units so Ill get my first A+ before the fall semester even starts
ExtraCurric: Phi Theta Kappa President, volunteering, published poet, travel to foreign countries
Essays: 10/10 Without a doubt they were on point because I have received a lot of scholarships
Work: two jobs on campus at my CC
Organic Chemistry Lab Assistant
Counseling Department Front Desk Receptionist
work 20+ hours a week
Other: Reentry student, independent, poor as fuck, latino, first-generation, gay, passionate about working at NASA’s Astrobiology Institute, Cal Grant recipient, Free tuition, CAL offered over $20,000 in scholarships (elated about this) UCD and UCLA offered about $25,000 but CAL is my dream.
All the UC’s I applied to have provided extremely generous scholarships, but my heart is to go to CAL because I truly want to be accepted to an Ivy grad program and being a CAL graduate increases those chances. Many of my fellow STEM friends have been accepted #dreamteam (elated about this as well). I am ecstatic about the passion the transfer community possesses and really look forward to meeting some of you. We have to stick together as some of the CAL students who have been there since fresh year are not kind to transfer students. Be prepared for gpa deflation and form study groups. It’s going to be a terrible roller coaster at times, but the end will be incredibly rewarding. Talk to your family if they support you about doing summer classes at CAL, great way to prepare for the rigor and get here earlier.
p.s. I want a Berkeley tank top and sweater stat
