The good thing is that any number of university decisions are mutually exclusive from each other, regardless.
@TheGuy1 So true.
Decisions are mutually exclusive. Unfortunately. there is a high correlation with being rejected by certain schools and being rejected by more difficult schools. Nonetheless surprises happen every single year all over the country. Last year, one student from our area was rejected by Notre Dame but accepted by Stanford. So you truly never know until you know. And we will all know everything in the next few days.
And we will know Berkeley tomorrow!
Good luck to everyone!
Typically, students accepted to UCLA has a lower chance at UCB, and students waitlisted or rejected typically have good cchances for UCB. The UCs must know that a student will always choose UCLA or UCB, so they only accept them at one and rarely two.
@ProfessorPlum168 does Berkeley review their application differently than UCLA?
Good luck to all of you and @MrRobot2018 I agree with you⦠things all depends on what schools need and how they see you fit. Also, my son applied to 30+ universities, and his admission stats have been all over the place⦠the only reason we decided to apply for so many is that you never know which school will see a potential in youā¦
Or simply that the two schools are looking for different types of students.
I got into USC but hoping for Berkeley tomorrow! Rejected to UCLA
@lkg4answers I tend to think that is the case.
@Nonomom THats the basis of being different schools and having different perspectives, agendas, visions, and fits.
But I believe for large public schools such as the UCās they use the UC GPA, a common no. across UCās which plays a huge role. Thats all regarding the similarity. Else, different.
There appears to be no trend generally in the whole decision aftermath. What really matters is the fit. (chiefly)
I agree, hence, with @gzza73 and with @lkg4answers Thats the beauty of US colleges (maybe demise for some apps)
Good luck
Rejected from five other UCās, waitlisted at UCSC. No hopeā¦
@TheBeyonder Not really true. If you are in state, it depends on where you are from - Northern CA or Southern CA. For NCA students, itās harder to get into UCLA than UCB, and vice-a-versa.
Meaning, if a NCA student doesnāt get into UCLA, UCB is still wide open. But if he/she gets into UCLA, chances of him/her getting into UCB become much higher. I have seen this happening for so many students in the past. There are always exceptions, but generally speaking this is the trend I have seen.
what time is it gonna be released
3pm
@nguyennhuynnh hi!! I got rejected from UCLA too sigh
Iām really nervous for regentsā decisions to come out asfshdj if I donāt get regents I canāt go (Iām out of state so 60,000 is what Iām looking at paying) which is a big bummer. Another bummer is that I got into UCSD and UCSB but obviously since Iām out of State I canāt go ugh the California system is so good yet so sad
How much is the regentsā money for OOS? I know for in-state students, itās around 2K
Honestly although I know that I should have no hope I am still holding onto it. I got waitlisted from UCSD, UCD, UCSB, and UCLA. Waiting on UCI but prob got rejected since I havenāt heard back yet and itās been a week. I have never felt this many emotions all at once and canāt even sleep at night since I am so worried about college admission results. UCB is the last college that I will be hearing back from and itās my dream school. If they do not accept me then looks like I will be going to UCSC although I worked my butt off in high school. This whole UC system seems lowkey messed up and unfair
Does anyone know when and how the Regents decisions will be released?
@collegebound2023 Good luck for UCB, but donāt forget that UCSC is a great school too. Whichever school you end up at, within a few months you will feel like you always wanted to go there, so donāt stress.
We are OOS and DS has already been rejected by USC and UCLA and heās feeling very down - but Berkeley has always been one of his top choices since he did a summer program there through SIG after 9th grade. Maybe heās just a better fit for UCB than UCLA? Hereās hoping!!!
