Nervous… thought I had pretty good stats but got rejected by UCLA and waitlisted by UCI… we’ll see how it goes
@lisalisae what’s his UC GPAs and what major did he apply for? On first glance, it seems like he should be able to get in unless he’s applying for EECS, then it becomes a crapshoot…I shouldn’t perpetuate this thought since it’s probably not true, but there’s a theory that I’ve seen first hand a lot where high stats folks get accepted into either UCLA/UCB, but not both.
.
@am1970 Needed to hear that! Thank you.
@ProfessorPlum168 what if I got waitlisted by UCLA?
my son got into both. ECs are everything. Even at the UCs
@lisalisae really surprised that your son got rejected from USC and UCLA with those stats. What was his intended major and HS GPA
@lisalisae This is shocking. Does he have a low GPA?
@collegebound2023 haha maybe they waitlisted you because they thought that UCB was going to give you an acceptance…you never know. … not sure how each school handles yield protection. You wouldn’t think UCB or UCLA wouldn’t need to do that, but who knows? I’m sure in reality the schools are independent in their admissions process, but it’s always interesting to try and find patterns. After all, technical traders trade stock all day long based on some of the stupidest trends and patterns…
@lisalisae sorry your DS feeling down. My S2 had 36/1560 (didn’t submit SAT) and got into EECS, so don’t lose hope! And I am sure no matter where he goes, with a resume like that, he will be successful! Good luck.
We live in SoCal. My S1, not EECS but engineering , (34/2330, that was 2015) was waitlisted at UCLA but admitted to Berkeley. S2 was admitted to both. Both boys have similar ECs: varsity sports, short term oversea missions. So I really don’t see any pattern here. College admissions are so random!
Less than 24 hours you guys will find out, so good luck, y’all! Almost everyone ends up loving the school they attend no matter which college, so best wishes!
@ProfessorPlum168
I know DS’s GPA in our state is 3.89 UW/4.28 WGPA, and we tried to calculate his UC GPA, which came out to 3.92UW/4.38W/4.08 capped (but we really don’t understand what all that means). I believe he put his intended major as Physics or Astrophysics.
@collegebound2023 I’m in a similar position as you, if I don’t get into UCB (which I probably won’t) I’ll be stuck hoping to get off a UC waitlist and if I don’t get off a waitlist I’ll be at UCSC
Hi idk anyone recognizes me but i posted Chanceme for berkeley a few months ago. For an update, I got into both Berkeley and UCLA. Berkeley accepted me as RAC candidate. Here r my stats.
GPA: 4.88 (valedictorian)
SAT: 1490/24
ACT: 34/12
SAT II: Korean 800, Math lvl 2 780, World History 720
Ethnicity&gender: Korean, female
EC: 3 Orchestras, 2 Volunteering clubs, 2 Tutoring positions. Concert master for all orchestras and president for clubs
I applied as math for both schools.
@lisalisae My D19 got waitlisted from UCLA as well. She is OOS with 36 ACT, 3.97 UW & 4.67 W GPA, NMF, 11APs (AP scholars), and decent ECs (leaderships) & essays. I think she applied for business economics or economics. Definitely not CS or a STEM field. Her preference was UCB over UCLA as she actually visited the campus a couple summers ago, so she wasn’t too upset. She hopes to hear beter news tomorrow. If not, she’d be disappointed, but I am sure she will think of it as fate, and move on. The college admission process is becoming more like a lottery. Very unpredictable. Best of luck.
@Mo11ymac Exactly the same here. If I don’t get into UCB then it is going to be one painful ride trying to get off the waitlist or else UCSC.
@OneAndOnlySJ I’m wondering the same thing. Our results come out tomorrow as well (not sure if it’s the same time though), but unsure how to check through MAP. So nervous!
Those who got accepted early for R&C, did u get the result ‘congratulations’ as soon as u entered login details or was there an update status button?
I got accepted into UCLA but rejected from USC, so idk what to feel for tomorrow right now
@Suave123 it shows Congratulations as soon as you login. The section below says Status Update with a View Update button.
Is electrical enginering and computer science a cs or stem major?
