I remember being on this forum exactly a year ago; I know exactly how you guys are feeling right now. I had applied for engineering, and had gotten asked for letters of rec, and was part of the group that did not receive an email from that financial aid glitch. I thought for sure I would not get in, had basically lost all hope but by some miracle I got into the major that I wanted, and now I couldn’t be happier at Berkeley. If you guys get in, congrats! It’s such an amazing school! But if you didn’t, just know that even if Berkeley was your #1 choice, your work ethic and determination will allow you to be successful at any other school that’s lucky enough to have you. I think admissions should be rolling out around 3:30 like last year, so goodluck everyone!!
So today is Gameday and showtime will commence in a few hours. As a parent who went through this process last year, let me just say that it is much more nerve-wracking for the parents than for the kid usually. There’s not a greater feeling in the world of getting an acceptance to a elite program, especially when you don’t expect it. I also will add that whether you get accepted, waitlisted, or denied, things will work out for everyone in the end, you’ll find your place no matter where you go.
Good luck to all of you! The Berkeley Open House is on April 13 (just like many of the other UCs unfortunately), and the campus will be buzzing that day.
