anyone have their fin aid package yet?
@Nhatrang I donât remember the prompts other than open ended questions describing yourself, academic interests, hobbies etc.
My S was pretty blown after his cycle and had to dig deep to keep writing essays. Its worth it.
Below are two links.
@ProfessorPlum168 No, it is open to anyone, from any year if Iâm not mistaken. The look for a very diverse population so you have all years and pretty much all majors. A plus for COE and Haas kids is that it is on the east side of campus. One thing to note that it is a bit quieter than the units.
@court16 Congrats on your acceptance. I highly recommend touring Cal. It is not for everyone and almost total opposite from UCSD.
For those of you who got waitlisted, are you guys planning on opting in? Also, we should start a Waitlist thread
@SeniorSzn: Already have a waitlist thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/2134131-ucb-class-of-2023-freshman-waitlist-discussion-stats.html#latest
@jordanlaredo Berkeleyâs Financial Aid packages were made available yesterday at the same time as Freshman admissions decisions. If you do not have a package available, please check to ensure that you listed Berkeley (School Code 001312) either on your FAFSA or California Dream Application, depending upon how you filed. Once UCB receives your application, a financial aid package will be generated.
If you did list Berkeley correctly on your Financial Aid Application, please contact the school to let them know that you are an Admitted student who filed an Aid application but who does not yet have a Financial Aid package available. They will be responsive about those kinds of situations.
Good luck!
rejected :((( my dream school
Would it be a bad idea to miss Cal day? Iâm OOS and itâs hard to make plans now, especially since I have prom the very night as well.
@Sushi121212 - Youâll get the same CAL Day experience if you arrive a week early before the semester starts. CAL Day is just walking around campus & checking out the buildings. The only thing you miss out on is walking through the dorms to know what itâs like inside. You can do that on moving-in day.
@NonTradtional Good thing I wonât be missing much then, thanks for the help!
How many people usually drop out of Haas?
Anyone know anything about the fiat lux scholars program?
@Sushi121212 missing out on the dorm visits, though not a dealbreaker, is still pretty important as to figuring out where you DONT way to stay in. If you are committed to UCB then yeah you probably can get everything else answered along the way.
My kiddo canât make Cal day either but ironically I am going to the Bay Area that weekend. Wonât do any good for her though. @Sushi121212 you can learn a lot about housing from @ProfessorPlum168 post on the ask cal question thread. And my daughter is searching YouTube videos for what inside of the dorm is like I am sure you can do the same to get an idea.
Itâs kinda depressing to see the âFinanical Aid and scholarshipsâ⊠why is it even called â aidâ when there is none. Just call it cost of attending it would be more honest lol. $65,514 to be exact, plus airplane tickets and pocket money. Looking at $280K-$300K for the next 4 years. Is this even normal? @Sushi121212 I hope you have some real aid in your letter.
My cousin got accepted in the Psychology program at Cal. She would like to do a double major in Theater and Psych. Is it possible ? How hard will it be to graduate in 4 years if she does ?
Thanks in advance.
The conditions of admission says we have to send our sat scores, IB scores. But since we already sent the official of our SAT stuff that we self reported, are we supposed to just send the IB and AP scores?
@ProfessorPlum168 Sorry to bother again but I am freaking out!
I am currently taking AP Chemistry and I reported that I will take the AP exam in May. Last month, I decided not to take the AP exam because I do not think I will do well and a handful of seniors mentioned that they will not be taking it either. So the deadline has passed and I did not sign up.
I will be taking the other 4 APs and I did not think this one test would matter.
Not sure what I was thinking as I do not have seniorities and still grinding and pushing.
I just saw that they can rescind me and cancel my admission because of this. What do I do? Do I have to fill in that form? Or call them?
@codergal Yes, were you selected for that?
