Also could be lying about ECs and essays on the UC application. It is what it is I guess.

I’m L&S CS

L&S doesn’t have a CS major anymore.

Remember freshman year grades aren’t calculated in gpa we are basically talking about 10-11 and out of the 13 criteria points assessed 1 is academic improvement. You don’t know how each UC ranks the criteria. Plus you don’t know who took community college courses, or what people did outside of school. You just know the image based off of in school perception.

I applied computer science

does anyone know how new the ccdss school is?

or they are just likable or at least, able to project likability on paper. maybe the AO got tired of reading about the same crap over and over and picked someone that they think may help improve Cal’s reputation as a cutthroat, grade-deflating, no-fun, institution and put it back on top over UCLA

Ah, then that’s CCDSS. Congrats that’s quite competitive!

Packed depending on what program. I did my research for this

worst take i’ve ever heard

wdym packed? like classes over crowded? I applied cdss CS too

i would hold back on judging others due to just what you know about them in school. berkeley admissions especially is incredibly holistic and you dont know what their backgrounds/ecs/essays are like. if they got in (berkeley astro is like 99% accurate), ao’s found something special in them and they deserve it!

They announced it May 18th 2023, so around 2 years.

They admit a lot for some majors like DS. About 2,000 last year committed for it so around 4,000 probably got in for DS last year. Expect it to be the same this year. It’s gonna be crowded for DS courses

yea seconded, someone from my school last year (fairly competitive 1-2 EECS a year) got into EECS with super low course rigor and low gpa, I think berkeley is just very holistic

2000? that’s like 10x more than the CS class. last I heard they cs had like 200 admits
