Not talking about whether early admits should be done. The low-quality way they are done is the issue.
I didnāt get regents but got something called SEED Scholars Honor Program. Anyone else, not exactly sure what this is.
Thank youš
What is wrong about how they do early admits? They notify applicants through email and update the student portal. This is the same way they will post decisions in March however historically they do give a specific date for the March decisions.
Think about those in contention since Octoberā¦
I do not think this situation is any different than EA applicants at other universities that are deferred to RD.
S25 is deferred at one school and awaiting UC decisions. Weād much rather wait than be in the position of receiving an early maybe yes/maybe no.
Iām confused as to why this seems problematic to you? The vast majority of the tiny fraction admitted today are in a sliver of programs and in competition for scholarships.
They get a deferral or rejection notice, correct?
You have already responded to people who donāt know their situation. Seems like that is an issue.
Iām done.
Those are who Iām talking about, not your or my kid.
Sorry, just trying to understand you. You mean the kids who were admitted today?
EA applicants at other schools get accepted, rejected or deferred.
The UCās donāt have EA.
There are a fraction that are selected for early admits by a couple of UCās, but that is not EA. Students donāt apply EA, so I am not understanding what seems unfair.
Our kid HAS been waiting since October along with over 100,000 other kids. Thatās just how the UCās work. This is my second go around with kids applying to publics and privates and nothing about it seems ālow-gradeā to me (not sure what that means).
Again, I am not sure what you mean. All applicants know their situation. They are either admitted early or the 90%+ applicants have to wait until decisions in March. There have been no rejections for UC Berkeley applicants.
do they offer scholarships to 10% of the applicant pool?
No, usually the top 1-2% of the applicant pool.
Iām not talking about EA, Iām talking about the kids who were contenders for todayās release.
Sounds to me like only the winners got notified, and others who thought they were in the running are left guessing.
If so, not cool.
Guess we can agree to disagree.
Good luck to your student!
Good luck to your child, too.
Kinda hard for me to agree/disagree with someone who doesnāt seem to get my point, so letās just leave it at -
