UC Berkeley acceptance rates for every high school in California

As Berkeley’s admissions decisions go out today, here’s a look at the latest data from UC on the school-by-school results showing how students from California high schools fared in the last cycle.

One takeaway is how much admission rates to Cal can differ depending on a student’s high school. Berkeley admitted 12% of in-state applicants overall in the last cycle, but some high schools saw notably higher or lower results.

In San Francisco, for example, 45% of applicants from Mission High School were admitted to Berkeley for fall 2025, compared with 12% of applicants from Lowell High School.

We also looked at application, acceptance and enrollment rates at all UCs. In general, UC Berkeley is the second most competitive UC, with a 12% in-state acceptance rate.

The data also includes admitted GPA ranges. At Berkeley overall, the middle half of admitted GPAs tended to fall between 4.0 and 4.3, with some of the highest admitted GPAs appearing in architecture, business, and engineering.

Admissions patterns can also look different within a single school. At Mission High, 45% of applicants overall were admitted to Berkeley, but admission rates varied across applicant groups, including by race and ethnicity.

Among Mission High applicants, Berkeley’s admission rate was 58% for Asian students, 50% for Black students and 45% for Hispanic students.

A note on timing: this analysis uses the most recently released UC admissions data, which covers the 2025–26 admissions cycle. Data for the current 2026–27 cycle won’t be available until this time next year.
