***UC Berkeley Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

Actually Berkeley received over 96,000 applications!
Source: http://www.dailycal.org/2015/01/12/uc-berkeley-sees-6-percent-jump-applications-undergraduate-admissions/

Im curious to see how much the admission rate will drop with a 6% increase in applications

78,863 freshman apps vs. UCLA’s 92,000. smaller number but still terrifying :frowning:

Just a reminder that no matter what happens tomorrow everyone will find a school to call home. Patience is a virtue worth having, and good things come to those who wait. Best of luck to you all, thank you and much love to y’all for sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly throughout this entire process. You go, class of 2015 (2019? lol).

Do you guys know if Berkeley is impacted in the Biological Sciences department?

I look forward to staying up until 11 to see my decision
sigh

@niktheslick‌ If you narrow your Academic Focus (left hand vertical panel) to Biological Sciences, you’ll see all 18 majors related to Biology. Which major/college did you apply to in particular?

“Molecular and Cell Biology: Cell and Developmental Biology” is the major I applied for. @Schmosby‌

I’m assuming a lot of you have also applied to Stanford. Apparently decisions will be released this Friday. Berkeley on Thursday. Stanford on Friday. The next two days are going to suck!

@niktheslick‌ “MCB is not an impacted major. Therefore, the program will accept any interested student who meets the minimum course and GPA requirements and is realistically able to complete the major requirements during the student’s remaining time at UC Berkeley.”

what time are decisions coming out? pacific time. i live in central time lol i dont want to keep refreshing my screen like i did for ucla

Waiting for UCLA was absolutely horrible, but totally worth it. I’d just prefer to not have to deal with the anxiety again. For Cal’s Class of 2018, decisions were released at 5:30 CST. For 2017, they were released at 2:30 CST. They don’t seem to have very much consistency, but I assume that by evening, the admissions office means early afternoon. Hopefully this will help relieve everyone’s stress! Good luck from Texas, you guys!

Tomorrow is going to be a very stressful day, haha. USC decisions and I have to leave for karate by 7 PDT… Crossing my fingers for an admission decision before then. Not entirely sure how I’ll focus during class otherwise. Preparing for my first and hopefully only rejection from Stanford on Friday.

how impacted is mathematics?

Majors in L&S are not impacted at all for admission, declaring is another story though

Wouldn’t you have to be a registered student to be in The Directory? Cal isn’t going to put 78,000 names in there before the students accept the offer and register.

Yeah the directory thing is nonsense. Two peeps from my school have already been accepted becuase nomination for regents and I searched their names in the directory and neither popped up. So don’t worrys aha

Any of you guys got the supplementary questionnaire to Berkeley??

Any pre-business / undeclared majors?

@jesuuussss‌ – I received the borderline supplemental questionnaires for UCSD, UCLA, and UCB, and I was waitlisted at SD and accepted to LA. I’m anxious about Berkeley though, college admissions seem quite random at times.

DD is planning on majoring in Biological Anthropology. Hopefully this is not a popular major at UCB and she can get accepted. She got accepted EA at Univ of Mich. Still waiting on NYU, Stanford, Penn. Got rejected by Northwestern and UCLA. Really hoping for some good news by tomorrow night when she returns from Spring Break.
