***UC Berkeley Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

@jsk11214‌ Congrats! for what major? I kinda wish I had done ED2, but I guess I still can explore my options now…

@jsk11214 There was a girl at my school last year who didn’t get into any of the mid tier UCs or UCLA and got into Berkeley. Be realistic but also don’t get your hopes down!

@EmpyreanDweller When did NYU say that they were going to release decisions tomorrow?

@jsies11‌ That’s interesting. I got into SB and Davis, rejected at LA. As an OOS applicant, not really sure how realistic it is but decided to give Berkeley a shot. Hoping for the best!

@EmpyreanDweller When did NYU say that they were going to release decisions tomorrow?

I do not like this wait. I was scared out of sleep a few minutes ago when I realized Cal’s decision was coming.

@jhaynes1234 I had thought we’d be waiting until the first until I saw @EmpyreanDweller’s comment, so I checked it out. The link you’re looking for- http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2015/03/26/the-admission-decisions-are-coming/

@jhaynes1234‌ Yup, @Collegesooooon‌ got the link before I did. From what the NYU thread is saying (don’t know 100% if this is correct), that rejections will be emailed first in the morning and acceptances will follow. Regardless of when I get that email tomorrow, hoping for an acceptance!

Does anybody have the link to the admission portal?

At the time I applied to Berkeley I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do Aerospace or Bioengineering. I picked Bioengineering for UCB. Now I am way more leaning towards Aerospace, and I find out that Bio is absolutely the hardest engineering major to get into.

Lucky me.

Thanks guys!

anyone know if the acceptance rate for California residents is generally higher?

It should be coming out any moment now, shouldn’t it?

OOS is slightly higher

@SRB88888‌ If it’s any consolation, when I applied I somehow had it in my head that it would be easier to get in as an undecided engineering major and now I’m learning that the acceptance rate for undecided engineering is actually really low.

They just sent the Regents notification out.
So the decision should come out soon.

@blackford From looking at a thread from 2011, the OOS acceptance rate was 39.4%, while in state was somewhere around 20? I checked UCB’s website and it says that the acceptance rate for OOS applicants is only about 19%, so I’d say they’re a lot closer now. OOS admits generally have higher GPA’s and test scores in order to be competitive.
