***UC Berkeley Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

It would be interesting to know the acceptance rate of the students who received a request (and sent LORS). I also wonder how Cal will handle the LORs next year.

All applicants are supposedly going to have a chance to submit recs next year. We’re the guinea pigs.

They want to see how it differentiates between students that are supposedly(?) on the border.

The LORs were a pilot study this year. They wanted to see if those were material in the admissions process. That is it. Most likely they checked adcom final decisions for the test group with and without the LORs and ran statistics to see if LORs had any impact on admission decisions but went with the final decisions based only on no LORs.

I was at a UCB admissions session and this is what my daughter understood when she asked the admissions officer after her presentation. In fact at that time they were planning to ask for only 1 LOR, not 2. Can you kids please stop being Mulder and Scully on this issue now and find something something else to investigate?

Did an upload form show up on anyone else’s portal?!

Yes, what is it for and did everyone get one?

Yes, but if they haven’t requested anything from you, just ignore it.

It’s for you to upload documents they requested. If they need something, they’ll specifically request it.

Mine says “conditions not met: proof of summer enrollment.” I’m confused but I’m sure they’ll send an email or something.

I was not asked for LORs or Supplements, but the file upload it says is “Conditions not met-Proof of Summer Enrollment.” I didn’t even have an upload feature before

Mine says the same. I’m waiting for an email before I do anyting.

Mine says the same too

Perhaps these are for the students who were admitted in the early release batch back in February? Does anyone NOT have it on their portal?

It’s on my D’s portal and she wasn’t in the early release. I’m sure it’s on everyone’s.

its on everyone’s portal.

For those who were admitted on 2/12, the drop-down shows 2 options:

Conditions Not met: Proof of Summer Enrollment
Regents’ and Chancellor’s Letter of Recommendation

The LOR is a good thing for the most part…
Here’s proof: http://academic-senate.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/committees/aepe/freshman_policy_revised_approved.pdf
Scroll down to where it talks about the LOR stuff.
Good luck guys!!!

@bruin2020 in that context, I think what they mean by “recommendation” is whether the person reading your app recommends admission, and not the recommendation as in your recommendation letter.

@bruin2020 yeah that’s not talking about teacher lors, it’s talking about the types of decisions the admissions people can make when they are reviewing applicants.

@coconutproponent I received the same notif on my UCB Application portall!! I don’t understand what to upload and whether or not to wait for an email since my friend did not get an email when he was requested for the LOR back in December and he missed the date for uploading. I am scared of missing the deadline…
