accepted to UCI and UCSB
stats : 1210 SAT nd 4.5 Unweighted GPA
Great Extra Curriculars and Essays
what are my chances
@lilnando I’m sure you’ve heard that the application process is random. It’s very difficult to predict whether someone will get in or not based on standardized test scores. Test scores, essays and ECAs are definitely the biggest determining factors, however, keep in mind that fit is also a big factor! So, just relax and your decision will be here in 5 days! Good luck!
@sastronaut One school’s rejection shouldn’t be indicative of another schools decision. Each school is different. I know someone this year that got into UCB as Regents and UCLA but rejected at UCSD.
Which is a better major: Computer Science at CAS or Computer Science/ Engineering in college of Engineering (CoE).
I need your advice to take decision.
We are continuing to hold hope that S gets positive news from Berkeley. Visited campus today and it is amazing! Unfortunately, bad news from USC was waiting for us when we got home.
I only applied to UCSB, UC Davis, UCLA, and UC Berkeley.
*I’ve been accepted to UCSB and UC Davis. I got waitlisted from UCLA.
Statistics:
GPA: 4.26 Weighted (All A’s 9th-11th)
SAT: 1310
Submitted 0 AP scores
Extra Curriculars: All fits a theme; medical club, hospital volunteer, key club, black student union, track & field
Essays: 1-10? 8-9.
Just remain positive and remember scores don’t name a person. You will find a school that belongs to you.
@antwaine Exactly, well said.
@Calculator1127 It is like the closer decision day is, the more applicants start to freak out about their application. Don’t compare your application to others. Each application tells a different story.
We also have to keep in mind that each school is different in how they review applicants and what they look for each year.
USC released their decision. A lot SAT 1550+ or SAT 35 got rejected or waitlisted. Can’t be too optimistic for UCB…
@Awakefish I got into USC with a 1470 SAT score. Numbers aren’t everything and USC is pretty holistic.
Wishing everyone best of luck!!
Congratulations!
Thanks! Anyways, don’t give up hope because you might be what one school is looking for but not at another school. I’ve heard UCB is very holistic, so don’t count yourself out. Hope you get in!
YIKES YIKES YIKES
I applied to bioengineering to UCB without knowing anything or considering anything; I didn’t know that the CoE was so selective. How screwed am I? How selective is bioengineering at Berkeley? I have a 1570 SAT, 3.9 UW, some research experience, decent EC’s…oh no…should’ve applied to letters and sciences ughGHGhghgh. I was rejected from UCLA/waitlisted at UCSD for the same major.
ahh super nervous as well with uc berkeley having been my dream school since forever…good luck to everyone!
@Awakefish I got into USC with a 1320 SAT, and I’m a computer science major…
Did anyone recieve an email saying they got accepted to UCB telling them to check fin aid but nothing updated on their portal???
i did! so weird… but i certainly dont wanna jump to conclusions to avoid any potential heartache haha
When did you get the email, I got it just now which is 4 am PST so I’m confused as to whether there’s an issue because why send out info at 4 am?!?!
