I woke up and saw the email and nearly cried. Was anyone able to log in and check there fin aid?
Hope it doesn’t mean entirely bad news to those who didn’t receive it…
was this sent only to U.S citizens? and was this only for people who applied for Financial Aid? I’m an international.
So bummed out because I got rejected from USC 
admissions.berkeley.edu still has the following:

So, chill if you did not receive any email from UCB. There is also a reddit post saying the individual has been receiving emails every day for the past 3 days or so stating something in their financial aid has changed though he/she was unable to see what was changed. Even those who claimed to receive the email on this thread indicate their portal is still showing “application under review”. Two things appear common - Financial aid decision (vs straight admissions decision), US Nationals. Unclear if financial aid indicates “need based” or also includes “merit”. Either way, it is best not to get depressed for not getting the email and ride it out until portal updates are posted.

@mmstanfordbound don’t worry… it doesn’t seem to be directed to International students… and I haven’t seen any international student discuss about that email, so chill it’s probably not for us and we will get to know about our decision on the 29th.
Both my daughters received the email. I think they accidentally released them in error.

Not international. It says congratulations on your admission. Then here’s how to look at your conditional offer of financial aid…

I got the email at 3:14 am, and it opens with “Congratulations on you’re admission to UC Berkeley!” And then goes on about financial aid.
What does it mean to have applied for financial aid? I think I sent the FAFSA to them …is that it? So am I rejected?

It would be a cruel joke if I wasn’t actually admitted, they would send an apology email.
