I was wondering, when UC Berkeley requester 2 LoR’s, is that a sign for anything? I know there were earlier posts on how it’s different for CoE & L&S. I’m just scared since I’m planning to major in Sociology but I don’t know if the letters will help me or give me some type of holistic miracle or not

@oopsycorgi at my school last year the twop people who got asked for letters and submitted both were eventually admitted off the waitlist, this year another student asked for letters was given a regents letter. on the augmented review policy it states only 15% were asked versus the 30% this year, and from a study I read on the impact of LORs on the berkeley app it shows that they are able to help you an additional 15-20% depending on if you are a URM or white. whites generally benefit from the letters more-- likely because of better school districts with better teachers who write better LORs. so, we cant say that the LOR means auto in, waitlist or denial, but it was definitely asked with the intention of aiding your application.
I created my Cal net ID but can’t login because it says I am an “unrecognized login”. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it? HELP

@oopsycorgi I can’t speak for your situation, but I have a good friend who’s daughter is a freshman at UCB this year. She was asked to submit 2 letters of reference.
BTW, to add to my previous thread on not stressing…this same young woman had a different UC as her top choice, but when she was admitted to UCB she felt she couldn’t pass it up.
She regrets her decision.
For those who didn’t sign up for the summer sessions today if you go to calcentral and push login but enter with Map ID on the side, does it let you login and provide you a 10 digit number ?

Okay yeah can confirm what was said earlier, also made a fake account and just got an email for the fake account but never got one for the real account

@Jbob1946 the same thing is happening to me… my real email that I used to apply to Berkeley I never got the cal central id, but with my fake email (school email) I got it within 30 mins… what does this even mean
it’s letting me sign into calcentral just using my MapID

So pretty much everyone has been able to log on somehow and it says PRESIR I guess it doesn’t mean anything then
Personally my ethnicity isn’t listed on calcentral so hope that doesn’t mean I am rejected though I probably wouldn’t be able to afford cal anyway
