Here at UC Berkeley, you will have so many great opportunities to find the best first-year fit for you! As you await your admission decision and consider your options, we wanted to provide an opportunity for you to learn more about two of our programs for newly admitted students: the [Global Edge][Freshman Edge]Program.
We invite you to join us for our virtual Global Edge & Freshman Edge Programs Information Session on March 21st, from 4-5PM (PST). During this session, you can learn more about these two exciting programs that both give you a jump on your Berkeley experience. In the Global Edge program, you join us on campus during the summer of 2024-then study abroad in London for the fall semester! Through the Freshman Edge summer program, you have the opportunity to take summer courses (in-person or online), gain experience with Berkeley academics, and build community before fall semester begins. Hear from program alumni about their program experiences. Additionally, we will have open Q&A time when you are able to ask us any questions you may have about the programs. [Register here]xxxxxx to receive the zoom access link.
We hope this is a great chance to learn more about a few fantastic first-year opportunities here at UC Berkeley.
What I understand there are two zoom call - one as information session and other welcoming start of program…there are three time slots for the 6 weeks program before the actual fall - May- June, June- July and July- early Aug
Now that I look at it more it just seems like.promo webinars like other colleges have. USC, UCI, Pomona had similar webinars about life as a freshman and what to expect etc…just trying to get the kids excited about coming and convincing them to commit if accepted.
I hope I’m wrong and it means something more though!
Same. My son received the email but when trying to register, gets an error with his email address that he used for all college apps. I then used my work email address and it went through fine. My son is a Stats major.
Edit: with the help of others I was able to determine the issue was my son didn’t have a zoom account with his college app email address. Once I created a zoom account for him, the registration worked.
You’re amazing, I felt what you feel years ago. UC admission process is random, but it’s fair game in the end. Your stats is more than enough to get in UCB. For Stanford and ivy schools, they look for nationally recognized awards.
If Stanford is your dream, you should apply for ED, definitely boost the chance.
I appreciate the kind words. I’m pretty set on picking UCLA.
Yes I agree with you that Stanford accepts most students with national level awards or with a hook. I am really not expecting to get into Stanford. I know with their acceptance rate, it is a really far reach.
