Cost of attendance COA is “everything” cost.
UCB estimates its COA to be $42k a year (tuition+housing+personal expenses).
If your SAI is more than $42k, you get nothing.

Unbeliveable! She’s very lucky… Lots of applicants with 4.0 gpa are waitlisted.
Good for her!
Is there parents who have multiple college students here? Could you let me know if you receive any aid from UC?
Yes … and many were waitlisted, or denied, with gpas well above 4.0.
Did you receive the financial aid offer yet? They don’t care if you have multiple college students, SAI is in more favor of low income.
We have not received any financial aid information from UCB, UCI, UCR, UCM,UCSC, or UCSD. A friend has received an aid package from UCSB.
My nephew received FA packages, doesn’t look good.
Multiple students makes no difference on the FAFSA
I have one kid at Berkeley and going in the fall with similar stats - slightly higher GPA, fewer CC classes. Essays and ECs matter, as does major. I doubt my kids would have been accepted in Engineering or CS.
It did make difference in old calculation.
Unfortunately - they changed this. Of course its the one year that I will have two in college at the same time…can’t catch a break.
does anyone know if it is possible to appeal financial aid based on having multiple students/needing to save money for another student to attend college? thank you!
You can appeal your financial aid if you have a valid reason, but multiple siblings in college is no longer taken into consideration with the New FAFSA SAI calculation. You can try and the worst they can say is No.
I will have three next year No break, no way to retire early as planed
UCB has appeal form for FA, but not for multiple students (I called them last week).
Yeah,no breaks …
awww dang, thank you
Has anyone gotten their financial aid packet ?
My daughter got hers. She received aid packages from UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, and UC Riverside so far. UC Berkeley was by far the best, which surprised me.
Does anyone know if you can get rescinded or if acceptance would be put under review if you decide to not take an AP test that you reported on the application that you were going to take?
