Roommate info is in the housing portal as of today.
Have any California residents figured out a way for their student to remain registered to vote in your home city and county, but have the ballot sent to them at college? I thought it was possible, but haven’t been able to find a link online to have the ballot mailed to Cal. Not interested in registering in Berkeley. TIA
Ballots should arrive in October. That leave plenty of time to mail it to them in Berkeley or bring it to them if you are going to Parents Weekend.
Hi.
I wonder does Haas school direct admit ? I heard previous years the Haas school does not direct admit .Does ot change from 2023 or 2024?
Fall 2024 Freshman were the first class for a direct admit into HAAS which had a 4% admit rate.
Yes. 2024 was the first incoming class in the new four year Spieker undergraduate business program.
Thank you for info. My daughter will apply 2025~2026 round. She is 11 th now. Before this 2024 year, weren’t students admitted directly? Then do they have to apply program in junior year though they got admitted into Haas school?
Thank u.
Before 2024, Freshman students were admitted into the College of L&S, then took required courses so that they you could apply end of Sophomore year to the 2 year program. This option is still available.

If you apply into the Spieker program but do not get into the program, you will not be given another major and will be rejected from Berkeley. There are no alternative majors. I do not know about waitlists, however. On the other hand, if you apply to other programs with Haas, such as MET, if you do not get into the program, you may be accepted into Cal as another major. Take a look at the information on their website.
If I don’t get admitted to the business major as a first-year, can I still be admitted to UC Berkeley?
If you’re not admitted to the business major (a.k.a. the Spieker Undergraduate Business Program) as a first-year, you will not be admitted to UC Berkeley.
Do you mean that if students apply MET , students get second chance when they would be rejected. However Spieker program doesn’t give other chance when students would be rejected. Other schools are same thing i think . Students with second major are rarely admitted.
Some UC’s will consider alternate majors and some do not. UC Berkeley starting in 2022 allowed applicants to list an alternate major on the UC application however they have stated they only consider the alternate major during the waitlist and appeal process. Very few waitlist admits were given the option of their alternate major in 2023 admission cycle and none posted for 2024.
There is no waitlist for MET but competitive applicants not admitted for MET will be considered for admission to Berkeley Engineering majors but not guaranteed.
The Spieker program does have a waitlist so there is a possibility these students could be admitted into the program or their alternate major. Since the program is new and there was very little waitlist activity for Fall 2024, time will only tell.
Thank you !!!
MET is not an alternate major admission. You are applying to get admitted to two schools - Haas and COE at the same time. The applicant needs to be admitted to BOTH to get admitted to MET. So if Haas passes on an applicant COE can still independently choose to admit that student since they are evaluating using COE parameters.
My daughter wants business major . I think she can not do M.E.T. i don’t know how it is hard though
See link below, It is hard to get an engineering and business degree in 4 years. So they pick students carefully who are capable of doing so.
Yes. My daughter isn’t interested in M. E
T. our school students are accepted into M.E.T program every year though.
this is so amazing
