Usually you can appeal a waitlist rejection. Contact admissions to confirm. UC Berkeley only approved 4 appeals last year from 1500 submitted.

i’m pretty confused. do you think this is an extended WL situation? or have they maybe just not re-reviewed our applications yet? there are way too any people who haven’t gotten anything for us to all get in…

You can’t appeal being waitlisted. Generally, you can appeal being rejected. However, I don’t know what the deadline would be for waitlisted students that are rejected; contact admissions (as mentioned by Gumbymom).
Also note that from the FAQ, “Appeals are accepted but discouraged unless you have significant new information such as grades or achievements.”

@tamagotchi is correct that you cannot be on the waitlist and appeal but if rejected off the waitlist you can submit an appeal at most of the UC campuses but it is best to contact admissions for clarification. Based on the statistical data for appeals that I posted (not specific for waitlist denials), they are rarely approved. If they do not have room for waitlisted students, there is even less spots for appeals.

someone mentioned earlier in this thread that they were OOS and had gotten rejected though, hmm 
called on behalf of those who didnt receive a mail yet… the waitlist is closed for everyone and they are still processing the emails. additionally, they DID NOT re-review any of the applications to begin with.
So, good luck everyone, wherever you are heading! I’m certain it’ll be a better experience than what Berkeley could possibly provide!

sorry for the misunderstanding, i did not receive any communication yet (no email, no portal update). i was just responding to the person’s question asking what college i had applied to
OOS, college of engineering, i have not recieved an email yet nor an update.
same here with no update! i’m OOS and L&S.
berkeley sent out rejections for appeal july 14th. I have not gotten mine idk what that means anyone? most ppl ive heard that got rejected are in state not oos.
UC did publish the preliminary undergraduate admissions summary today for the incoming class that’s entering in Fall 2025.
