S26 just received an invitation to join tau beta pi. Does it means he got into Berkeley and this is a sign of acceptance?

No, this is a mass email for all applicants that applied for Engineering. The only email that means anything about admissions is the one that states the applicant has been admitted which will posted on March 26.

They would be an entering first-year? And the email came from Berkeley?
That’s odd, from memory Tau Beta Pi is an engineering honor society that you get into by having a good college GPA as an upper-division student.
My kid got the same email. In the flyer for the honor society, it says the program is for “admitted high school students”.
Huh. There is this too: TBP Engineering Welcome Night - Events - Tau Beta Pi, California Alpha Chapter . It could be a mistake.
My kid too.. It is an invite for an Engineering Welcome Night event that runs from 3pm to 8pm on April 3rd.. It will be super wierd if they invited the tens of thousands of Engineering applicants on campus for a 5 hour event scheduled to happen a week after decisions come out.
But I guess anything is possible in the world of admissions 
Also, did you notice that the deadline to fill out the form to attend is March 25? That’s the day before decisions come out, correct?

Discussion on reddit seems to be converging on “everyone got it”. Which is pretty weird and poorly planned/executed IMO if true.

Sounding like a mistake since so many applicants received this email. Only time will tell.
Those are TBP members (current Berkeley students) who have signed up as hosts.
