My son was just accepted to Berkeley. For UCs, also got into UCI, UCSB, UCSD. Also USC. He decided to attend UCLA in the fall He applied to all 5 because he didn’t know what his chances were. Turns out they were pretty good!
Younger son accepted to Cal. 3.96/4.84.. Also accepted at USC, UCSD, UCI and waitlisted at UCLA.

Yes, unless you apply to a High Demand major in the College of Letters and Sciences, you are admitted Undeclared and then need to meet the course requirements to declare your major.
Yes, all Letters and Science students are admitted to the College not the major. After the fulfill the major pre reps they can declare. My son is about to graduate from Cal and it has been better than we hoped for. Go Bears!
