Is this good enough?
Freshman year (I was overseas)
Science club
Speech and Debate club
participated in the Chemistry Olympiad (I didn’t get in though)
Sophomore year (First year in US)
Summer job
Junior year
Science national society
volunteering at the library
teaching science to elementary kids
part of a science program at an elementary school
participated in the Chemistry Olympiad
participated in the Science Olympiad
summer job
Seems good, doesn’t matter a lot though if you have spent TIME on those ecs.
By the way, how do you participate in Chem Olympiad but not BE in it?
Lack of leadership skills might stand out though, but you seem to establish yourself s science-oriented, hard-working person. However, college admissions can be quite unpredictable so be prepared for anything and judge yourself on your grades and essays ( since we don’t know what that is)
Good luck!
I took the test to get in but I did not pass.
Anyone can take the test and not pass. The test only takes a few hours/minutes. I do not think it is worth putting that on you application. I was one AMC problem away from qualifying for AIME, and I did not put it on my application because I saw that as a failure.
Did you win anything in speech and debate tournaments? Did you do nothing in your Sophomore year? Did your SciOly team win anything? In my opinion, your extracurriculars are below average.
What are your other stats? How is your GPA?
Sophomore year was my first year in the US and I had come after signing up for clubs so I didn’t have the chance to do anything. My GPA is a 4.0 and my unweighted is a 4.21. My ethnicity is middle eastern. I haven’t taken the SAT or ACT yet. But I’ve taken the PSAT. My score is 190. I messed up. I think I can get a 31 on the ACT. My SciOly team is still competing but I am sure that we will win.
Are you OOS for Berkeley? Full fees if you are OOS.
No I am not OOS
Without a test score, it’s hard to chance you.
What do you think I need to get in ?
