Yes! Exactly. Last year (and maybe the year before) was an anomaly.
@bubonica it seems as most years besides those two years accept between 40-55% I still have hope at least maybe a bad idea. I am surprisingly confident that I will get in. I need to see the number of transfers they took this year though compared to other years to get the whole picture though. I feel like they took a conservative number. Does not look significantly more than usual which it would need to be to fill all the extra spots.
Go ahead and tell me what you guys think. I have no expectations here. They were heartbroken after the rejection
@na1996 if they take too many freshmen and transfers that is the result. I have already pointed out statistical data showing that things may be different this year.
I just hope the difficult situation we are all in now works in a better way for all of us in this thread.
I am surprisingly confident that I will get in too
@Bubonica I have a low GPA but killer essays, and absolute top-level ECs. Talked about what caused the lower grades. (I started taking college classes when I was 14 as they were prereqs for AP classes at my school and I didnāt do well). Then I started college at 16 when my dad who was the breadwinner suffered major health issues which caused me to work 50-60 hours a week in the field in which Iām trying to get my degree. So the first semester I did not do as well as I was moving schools, moving houses, paying bills. Since then I have maintained straight Aās for about the last 1.5 years. I got a 1500/1520 SAT and took 3 AP classes in 10th grade, my GPA isnāt reflective of myself as a student. I also talked about developing software to maximize Instagramās algorithm to gain 100s of thousands of followers and software I built to help the less fortunate and to connect funds with those who need it.
i just want to know the waitlist likelihood for haas. ive been searching through forums and i havent found one⦠any help, guys?
@heyigotnoclue Honestly this is just my input and I may be pretty ignorant in terms of specific data for Haas but Yield rates are very high(vast majority accept admission offer), and very few drop out. Also, UCLA doesnāt have a business school so many peoples only option is CAL. All you need is one spot and them to pick you though so never say never.
@āUCLA22CogSci/LINGCSā
yah i know very little about yields and stuff like that so i cant make an educated guess but its funny because i havent seen not one waitlist for haas this year⦠which is weird.
haas is super competitive so im not surprised but waitlist was a nice surprise since haasās average gpa is like 3.87 or something. but idk.
IF ANYONE SEES SOMETHING, PLEASE TAG OR MESSAGE ME
thanks best of luck!

IIRC, the waitlist doesnāt actually work like that. Itās not one out, one in. When a FEW people choose not to SIR, it doesnāt necessarily mean waitlisted applicants will replace their exact spots. MANY people have to not SIR in order for them to start choosing people off the waitlist.

@bubonica yikes lol.
Does anyone know approximately when UCB will release their transfer waitlist decisions? Iām pretty sure they will release it before July 1st they not gonna wait for that long
Dont remember what they said exactly but Definitely after everyone has SIRāD
Just expanding on @Bubonica ās point but I think the reason the waitlist isnāt a perfect one to one thing is bc admissions officers know the yield rates for each major/college from year to year and will try to admit enough people so that if the yield rates stay roughly the same then they should have a full class from just the people that were admitted. Of course since the yield rates donāt stay perfectly stable year to year sometimes too many people in a specific major choose not to SIR which is when they would take people off the waitlist
I also got waitlisted from Haas
@arshnag9424 - WHEW finally. CG for the waitlist! finally got another personās response ROFL
Hey everyone Iām late to the party but I got waitlisted too! UC to UC transfer 4.0 GPA Econ major! Iām curious to see if anyone has started on the optional essay! What sort of guidelines for filling it out does anyone suggest? Should it be treated as a LOCI? Thanks I hope itās a good year for us!!
@gman20011 LOCI would be the most helpful I think unless youāve done something drastic over the 6 months waiting period. Iām likely going to be doing a LOCI.
Iām only missing the sec eng prereq
