I hope there is a wave tomorrow. Lol
What the reps said from the live chat was next week
Schools tend to put different amounts on their waitlist. Historically Berkeley has always been around 3,000 on the transfer waitlist each year IIRC.
I agree that it makes financial sense to overenroll in the face of all this uncertainty. UCLA/Davis responded with this uncertainty by over enrolling and admitting tons off the wait-list. Berkeley however has stayed really silent about the wait-list. They have been very careful and conservative when it comes to admitting off the waitlist. By all accounts it seems as if they wait for spots to open up to then enroll off the waitlist.
If that’s the case then I would have to think that the waitlist decisions might get pushed to late July. There is no way that Berkeley would be able to understand the fallout of the ICE decision by mid-July. They would need to wait until late-July at the earliest to gauge how many spots might open up because of IS students leaving or deferring.
All I’m saying is that if they do push the waitlist again past the 16th, then acceptances should start in Spring cause otherwise it would simply be unfair.
Midway through the Winter term with the whole online transition due to Coronavirus, a good amount of students were understandably upset. Even though that mindset has changed after being holed up all summer, perhaps a strong number of students may decide that online classes isn’t their cup of tea and decide to take a gap semester.
@givmethemail when will it be next week?
How can I know that
Hey everyone. How do you access the live chat? I can’t find anything on the Cal website.
@pidab94915 its at https://admissions.berkeley.edu
it starts at 1 today. You just click on the chat bubble on the right
It’s safe to say that anyone who will be getting accepted off the waitlist will be getting accepted for Spring.
The last transfers to get off the wait-list were in mid-June. And they both got accepted for Spring. All Fall spots are already taken up.
Actually Its better for IS students like me who cant get support fro frds and family
It’s not necessarily a bad thing it just means fewer spots will be open. Also means that the majority of us will have to graduate a semester later too.
There’s no chat tomorrow. Wonder if this means some decisions will be releasing tomorrow
@collegeappacc is that always true or is it just this week?
@1290student yeah, I was wrong there’s never chats on friday. its Mon-Thurs
Hi guys, I just saw the news that 47 cal students got the virus during last week
That’s was the email that @harryjackson1 was referring to a couple days back. The wording on that email has some students thinking that Berkeley might reduce in person classes even more.
I didnt know that email. my cal account got expired on May 15 exactly (sad)
I am getting mad.
All of us as another day goes by without an acceptance
All reps said next week so no matter good or bad it will be Neeeeeeeeext week~
