Do you guys know if there are any webinars? I need more info on this whole waitlist process. Do any of you have more info if you contacted admissions? Please share. Thanks.
I really wanna go to Cal, I can’t see myself going to UCLA :’(

@Bubonica if you find any lmk!
Just a quick question. I have a lot of transfer friends who got admitted but are very likely to defer and come back after everything settles down due to discomfort with online classes. Hypothetically if you do get accepted off the waitlist can you make that decision as well? Or are you mandated to start this fall or get kicked. Just like someone else who commented, my Berkeley counselor told me that there is a great opportunity this year for waitlisted students due to the circumstances. First admitted students can decide when to enroll since technically once you get in, you’re in for life. Is that the same thing for waitlisted students?
@Laurelderulo I dont think waitlist would be affected by deferrals as you may think, if they even allow deferrals for this fall.
That’s awesome to hear that we have a good chance. Yay ![]()
quick question,
what you guys think? will they release their decision before June 7th??
I hope so. That seems a little early tho. Past years have been late June to even July.
@Bubonica I think due to this pandemic they will release it earlier. I have a feeling that they will release their decision early this year
Yeah same. I have that feeling too.
@Bubonica Lets keep the hope going!! Cal is my 1st choice as well.
If you submit the waitlist opt-in without attaching an essay or transcript, can you add them later after the fact?
Good question. Do you mean submit the form now, then turn in grades/essay BY may 15? Then yes, because it lets you update the application.
I don’t think it lets you update the form after May 15.
Waitlisted
Major: Political Science
GPA: 3.87
I got accepted into UCLA and all the other UC. Had an internship and strong extra curriculars. Good essays I think lmao. Berkeley is just a hard school to get into but i hope with the virus we all have a better shot
@elitherussian At this point, it’s so unpredictable. I had all my major prep done for UCLA and was TAP certified. I had essays that a UCLA rep who came to my school loved, I have top-level extracurriculars and was not even waitlisted lol. So I’m hoping Berkeley comes through as it is much better for my major anyways.
@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” wow. May I ask what GPA for UCLA? I assume the major is your handle.
GPA was not amazing(I took classes at age 13 and 14 purely for fun to refresh and prepare for AP classes and they killed my GPA) I started college full time at 16 after my dad suffered major health issues, so I could help pay the bills. Over the last 1.5 years, I have received a 3.85 GPA but Culumative It is a 3.65. Keep in mind while I was taking these classes I have and am working 50-60 hour weeks in the field having to do with my major. I built scripts that gained 100s of thousands of followers for companies by automating and maximizing algorithmic potential within social media platforms. I thought it would be the perfect fit and opportunity for me but hey maybe Cal is the perfect spot as it is next to a tech hub anyways.
It seems like UCI waitlisted transfer students are being accepted. Do u guys think it will also happen for Cal waitlist before the deadline?
@kanaomarrons Idk if they even have started taking freshman applicants yet after looking at the UCB 2024 waitlist thread.
@kanaomarrons it was only for business ad majors Berkeley hasn’t even release freshman decisions. we have to expect transfers after may 15th which I really doubt they will release it in May so I would say early June would be our first wave. But people are saying they might roll in-state students out sooner.
Does anyone think our chances are looking low?? I just noticed that there weren’t a lot of freshman’s pulled off the wl and those who were weren’t offered the traditional pathway
