UC Berkeley Fall 2020: Transfer Waitlist Thread

@VWJ2014 I think 4 address glitch means that they opened your portal thats it nothing special

I do believe that there is a glitch that has been pretty reliable for freshman waitlist admits— that is when your ā€˜Decisions FAQ’ turns into an ā€˜Admissions FAQ’

Is the waitlist using a rolling basis??? The later you submitted, the less possibility to get off the WL?

Yes and please anyone who gets glitches let us all know so we can check!!

Not at all. The date you turned in your waitlist form has no bearing on your final decision. An applicant who turned theirs in on April 17 will be equally evaluated to an applicant who turned theirs in on May 15.

Yes, decisions are rolling. But, again, the date you turned in your waitlist form has no influence over when you receive your decision.

@Bubonica Admission FAQ glitch means you are 100% in I’m pretty sure about this one

good luck everybody! Waiting for every one good news!!!

Does anyone have that glitch yet?
Also, what is a rolling basis?

Can you guys still edit the waitlist op-it information?

Rolling basis means that decisions don’t come out all in one day. Usually, they come out in waves throughout the month of June.

I heard you’re not supposed to edit your form after the deadline. But if they give us the option to, I guess it’s okay?!

How would we see if we have a glitch ?

Hey guys,
Looks like I’m super late to this party. June is just around the corner. I just want to say that whatever result you get in June is meant for you. Most of you are twentysomethings or teenagers. Your life has only gone about one fourth or one fifth. Getting into a prestigious university may be a great accomplishment, but greater achievements of your life are yet to come. UC Berkeley didn’t become a competitive school by divine appointment, but by those researchers and graduates who made great contributions to it. People who keep boasting their identity as a Cal alumnus probably have nothing to show for their education. Don’t believe those admission ads that suggest their school can shape your future. No, you are the one who’s in charge of your own future, no one else is. The university can only offer a very limited amount of help. Remember, your effort and perseverance matter a lot more. Wherever you end up attending, make it a better place, and make it better because of you.

Does anyone know when the start emailing decisions?

I saw for the freshman waitlist thread, some people were emailing their AO. I’m wondering if we could do that too…

Major: Computer Science
GPA:3.78

Waitlisted too
3.70, Applied Mathematics

I’ve taken all the lower div classes including changes cc’s to find a transferable ā€œDiscrete Mathā€ class. I’m not really sure why I got waitlisted, just didn’t get lucky I guess.

Freshman acceptances we’re due on May 1st and freshman got their waitlist decisions May 20th, so I’m expecting we’ll get ours around June 20.

Good luck everyone. Fingers and toes crossed!

Should I send a LOCI if I already did the waitlist essay?

So when waitlist decisions begin rolling out in early June, will there be any notification of rejection? or for those who are rejected, will they simply not hear back until the very end?

Maybe I am completely out of line because this statement is backed by 0 numerical data, but does it seem like to anyone else that they took fewer transfers than usual? My counselor told me some students who thought for sure would get in with 4.0 GPAs were not even waitlisted. She told me to plan for the worst but don’t be super surprised if you get off the waitlist. I got rejected by my other top choices so I am really hoping this pulls through lol.

Although I don’t have any statistics to justify this, it’s not hard to imagine that Berkeley would admit less people this year due to the over-enrollment last year. Colleges make decision based on data from past years. Higher yield rate of the last often means lower admit rate this year. Waitlist is a means to keep yield rate and enrollment at a reasonable level.

@chrispuppy Didn’t they under enroll last year due to the year before? I think most UCS will accept fewer students and then slowly do waves via waitlist to ensure they hit their target student goals.
