UC Berkeley Fall 2020: Transfer Waitlist Thread

@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” no one got off the waiting list last year but they might accept more from the waiting list because of this pandemic lets all wait until June 7th
usually, the first wave for transfers is around that.

My spring grades have been finalized. Should I edit my opt-in form and upload an unofficial transcript?

I had a 4.0 up until this semester. I got a B in Mechanics. Does that look bad? My final CC gpa is 3.92.

@imsydv From my experience last year (I was on the waitlist and got rejected), I received an email at June 18,2019 saying that the transfer class is complete and they are unable to offer me admission. So I think this year, Berkeley will also email students whether they get in or not.

Does anyone else have the 4 address glitch?

Where did you end up attending?

What does four address glitch look like?

In the address section, it has 4 addresses listed.

Thank you!I only see two mail addresses and one permanent address now.

@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” it seems still no one has the 4 addresses glitch

I wouldn’t rely on that 4 addresses glitch. I had 4 addresses in March and I was obviously waitlisted.

I had it all of yesterday and the day before.

@Bubonica Yeah it doesn’t seem to be a sure shot but at least they are looking at Cal waitlist students this year lol.

I had three addresses yesterday, but at midnight, it changed back to two.

I was just checking the UCLA waitlist thread to see how they’re doing and it looks like they started accepting people today. I hope Cal does the same soon!

According to previous years, it seems the best case is June 5-8th hopefully we hear back earlier!

I’m so nervous! Got off of the UCLA Waitlist (got accepted to UCLA), but I really want to go to Berkeley because the Global Studies department fits my areas of interest more coherently. Also UCLA has a Pre-International Development Studies program, meaning I would have to reapply to get in my program (International Development Studies) at the end of my Fall Quarter. I believe I could also apply for the Global Studies department (also a pre) at UCLA, but it just leaves me such an insecure position. Both the Global Studies and International Development Studies departments are highly competitive. Meaning if I don’t get in to either departments, I would be in limbo? I only have until June 5th to declare if I want to go to UCLA or not! I would rather go to Berkeley though, because I am guaranteed admission to my program automatically and I really love the format of the program.

@shirley1122 Are you a California resident or out of state resident?

Has anyone signed up for the new students orientation at your current SIR school? That’s another sunk cost besides SIR fee. UCLA offers transfer orientation through September. I’ll wait until mid-June and see what happens.

@Grinder1212 Do you know around what dates the first wave was around (for in states) for the 2024 waitlist thread?

Do you think there is a chance we can hear back by June 5th (In state)?
