We’re looking for an affordable-ish (<$3k) summer residential program in a science or computer/tech field and came across this. Wondering if anyone has personal experience. Also looking at the EPIC Cal Poly Program. Would love to hear any experiences good or bad. Also feel free to drop any other favorites :)!
Sort of…My daughter was an RA for the program last summer. She lived in the dorm with the kids, took them to breakfast, made sure they got to class on time, then did various activities with them after class (karaoke, group art projects, thrift store trips, etc). So she didn’t DO the program herself, but definitely got to know the students very well and heard their feedback…Pretty much all of the students she was assigned to had a great time with the program - both the academic and non-academic portions.
Just wanted to post an update for anyone who may be considering this program - My rising 10th grader decided to give the CRISPR camp a try (he chose the residential option), and he had a blast. He enjoyed living in the dorms and made many new friends, but also learned a lot about genetic engineering, even though camp was only 1 week. The campers gave a really informative and interesting presentation to the parents on the last day of camp. My son came home excited about college and science, and we’ll definitely check out their options for next summer.
